Job Title: Apprentice Industrial Electrician
Job Description
The Apprentice Industrial Electrician supports electrical operations across multiple production facilities in a large-scale manufacturing environment. This role focuses on installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving electrical systems, controls, and equipment to keep production running safely and efficiently. The position offers hands-on industrial experience while progressing toward Journeyman Electrician licensure.
Responsibilities

Install, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems, controls, and equipment in a manufacturing environment.

Perform preventative maintenance on motors, conveyors, and other production machinery to reduce unplanned downtime.

Diagnose and resolve electrical issues quickly and accurately to minimize production interruptions.

Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to plan and complete work effectively.

Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and performance.

Contribute to safety initiatives by following established procedures and helping to improve electrical and plant safety practices.

Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable state electrical codes and internal safety and quality standards.

Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to coordinate repairs and system improvements.

Document maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications accurately for future reference and compliance.

Work rotating 12-hour shifts, including days and nights, to provide ongoing electrical support to the facility.
Essential Skills-
Degree from a 2-year electrical or technical program approved by the Minnesota or North Dakota State Electrical Board.

2–3 years of hands-on electrical experience beyond basic maintenance tasks.

Demonstrated experience applying work hours toward Journeyman Electrician licensing requirements.

Willingness and ability to take the Journeyman Electrician exam within 2 years.

Strong troubleshooting skills in industrial environments, including diagnosing issues with motors, controls, and production equipment.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Ability to install, wire, and commission electrical systems and equipment in an industrial setting.

Comfort working rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Solid understanding of electrical safety practices and adherence to state electrical codes.

Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate work with maintenance and production teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications-
Experience working in manufacturing, food processing, or other industrial environments.

Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and automated systems.

Background in high-volume production settings where uptime and reliability are critical.

Experience with construction-related electrical work, including wiring and installation.

Capability to support continuous improvement efforts in maintenance and reliability.

Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.

Work Environment
The role is based in an industrial agricultural processing facility that operates around the clock. The environment is typical of large-scale production, with active machinery, conveyors, and electrical equipment in continuous operation. The facility can be warm during the summer months, and you will work rotating 12-hour shifts on both days and nights, including some weekends and holidays. You will use industrial electrical tools and equipment, follow established safety procedures, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment suitable for an industrial processing setting.

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $88000.00/yr.
