Full Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Verify tool dimensions, alignments and clearances of tooling for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, dial indicators.
Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes and tolerances of assemblies, based on specifications.
Inspect and repair automation racks and return to proper location.
File grind, shim, and adjust different parts to properly fit them together.
Verify tool timing.
Fit and assemble tooling for proper clearance.
Inspect all new and in use tooling for surface finish.
Inspect dies, punches, core rod or core pins for surface finishes, contour conformity and defects using last piece made review.
Inspect tooling adaptors for cracks, surface wear, or defects to prevent quality issues
Smooth, polish or contour surfaces of parts or tools, using abrasive stones, files, emery cloths, glass media blasting or power tools.
Conduct dual upper punch assembly PM if required.
Set up and operate drill press to drill and tap holes.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of Powdered Metal processes preferred; understanding of details related to compaction and re-strike presses.
General understanding of practices and procedures used to produce powdered metal components preferred.
Previous Tool Room / Machine Shop and powdered metal experience preferred
Based on 3 shift operations, this position will support 3rd shift (Afternoon shift)
Ability to comprehend product flow from raw material to finished goods.
Ability to use and understand measuring equipment and devices.
Capability to read press layouts and tool drawings.
Excellent verbal communication skills to successfully interact with multiple levels of internal customers.
Understand and follow plant wide safety requirements and BW policies and procedures.
Intermediate Math skills
Basic computer skills

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to follow blue prints, sketches, verbal instructions or specifications to ensure tooling will produce a quality product.
Ability to understand set-up procedures and equipment drawings.

Computer Skills:

Efficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access Data Base.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must maintain current BW Low-lift Powered Industrial Truck License.
Obtain and maintain LOTO certification.

Regularly lift up to 15 lbs, frequent lift/or move up to 25 lbs, and occasional lift and/or move up to 75 lbs
Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as visual inspection for small defects and using measurement devices.
Performing physical activities that require considerable use of hands, arms and legs while handling, inspecting and clean tooling .
Assemble or disassemble powdered metal tooling by hand
Load or unload material or tooling on to workstations and storage shelves
Work with mineral spirits and other polishing compounds

Management Systems

Responsibilities:

assemble tooling and configure press between runs or when issues occur such as tooling damage,
respond to press operators requesting assistance.

Authorities:

stop press when necessary (e.g. major quality or energy related issue),
adjust press to bring parts into specification,
notify engineering and/or maintenance of issues with presses,
turn off workstation A/C, fans, heaters, press turn tables, lights, radios, etc. when not in use,
report all energy related issues/concerns (e.g. air leaks), as they are discovered.

General:

Always follow facility-wide safety guidelines for items such as PPE, Powered Industrial Trucks, Visitors, and Chemical Review and Approval.
Use handcarts for moving /transporting small heavy items.
Properly use hand tools and equipment for preventing safety related issues.
Operate equipment practicing safe and productive work habits.
Notify Team Leader or Mgt of any unsafe acts throughout the plant.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
When business needs arise, properly train personnel in the duties and responsibilities outlined within this position description.

Subject to extreme heat when environmental conditions present such factors (typical during spring/summer months)

Pay: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour
