Seasonal Part-Time Baker

About Us

Sweet Potato Sensations is a family-owned bakery and sould]ful cafe business in Detroit, proudly serving our community since 1987. We are known for our signature sweet potato-based baked goods and comforting, made-from-scratch food rooted in tradition, family, love, and flavor.

As we prepare for our busiest time of year, we are looking for a Seasonal Part-Time Baker to join our bakery team and help us bring our holiday products to life.

Position Overview

The Seasonal Baker will assist with the daily production of our baked goods, with a particular focus on our signature sweet potato products and holiday favorites.

This is a temporary seasonal, part-time position running through the end of December. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment, and takes pride in producing consistent, high-quality baked goods.

This is a hands-on position that requires attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to work efficiently during the busy holiday season.

Responsibilities

Prepare and bake a variety of sweet potato-based baked goods and other bakery products
Accurately follow recipes, production instructions, and established procedures
Measure and prepare ingredients accurately
Mix, portion, shape, assemble, and bake products according to production needs
Monitor baking times, temperatures, appearance, and product quality
Maintain consistency in taste, texture, appearance, and portion size
Assist with decorating, finishing, packaging, and product assembly as needed
Prepare and organize ingredients and workstations for daily production
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary baking area
Properly store, label, and rotate ingredients and finished products
Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures
Help meet daily production goals and deadlines, particularly during peak holiday periods
Assist with opening, closing, cleaning, and restocking duties
Work collaboratively with the bakery and kitchen team to keep production running smoothly

Qualifications

Previous baking, pastry, bakery, or commercial kitchen experience preferred
Experience with high-volume baking or production is a plus
Ability to accurately follow recipes and maintain consistency
Strong attention to detail and quality
Reliable, punctual, and dependable
Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable standing for extended periods
Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and safely handle baking ingredients and equipment
Able to work independently while also being a strong team player
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Must be available to work during the busy holiday season through the end of December
