Full Job Description

Regular work schedule is Monday-Friday. This position does require availability on nights and weekends.

The rate of pay is $23.03(min)- $29.51(mid) per hour, eligible for overtime.

General Definition of Work

Performs intermediate administrative support work assisting the Recreation and Event Department staff with daily facility rentals, class and event registrations, administrative needs, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Recreation and Event Manager. Limited oversight is exercised over Recreation and Event Attendants.

Qualification Requirements

Essential Functions

Oversees the usage of the Community Center
- Enforces departmental policies and procedures pertinent to Community Center activities and events as needed.
Assists with planning, organizing, facilitating, and evaluating programs and classes.
Assists with the training of Recreation and Event Attendant (s).
Coordinates rental and program setups and removals.
Assists with membership check-in and answers community center phone.
Coordinates registrations for classes, events, memberships and handles the daily revenue classifications.
Coordinates indoor athletic leagues.
Maintains databases, required forms, invoices, etc., for recreation and events.
Assists with social media posts.
Orders supplies and checks maintenance of community center.
Assists with programming and event participation tracking, budget preparation and financial reporting.
Assists with planning, facilitating and evalution of special events, programs and classes.
Updates Info Center and evening/weekend communications.
Responds to citizen requests, questions and complaints.
Performs other duties and coordinates other projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

General knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment and office assistance techniques; general knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; general knowledge of department programs and policies; general knowledge of standard computer software and hardware; general skill working in administrative support documents; ability to manage time and work within time constraints; ability to type accurately at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to operate standard office, word processing and data entry software; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to communicate effectively in oral form; ability to coordinate among elected officials; ability to create public presentations and marketing materials; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with citizens, town staff, elected officials, and the general public.

Education and Experience

Bachelors Degree and / or three years experience working in the field of park and recreation, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements

This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work frequently standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, lifting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and pushing or pulling; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, using of measuring devices, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

Special Requirements

Ability to work nights and weekends for community center coverage and programs and events as scheduled.

CPR/First Aid/AED certification within 3 months of hire.

Valid driver's license in the State of Tennessee.
