We are hiring a Full-Time Certified Nursing Assistant, Restorative Aide at Elk River Health and Nursing Center of Fayetteville.
Full- Time:
- Monday-Friday and an occasional Saturday or Sunday 7a-3:30p
As a Restorative Aide, you will assist with restorative programs as indicated through range of motion exercises, positioning, ambulation, activities of daily living, dining programs, etc. This position will also require you to perform direct resident care duties under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel. Assist with promoting a compassionate physical and psychosocial environment for the residents.
Administrative Functions
- Verify the identity of the resident before providing care, serving meals, etc.
- Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc., in an informative and descriptive manner.
- Report all changes in the resident’s condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse as soon as practical.
- Report all accidents and incidents you observe on the shift that they occur.
Associate Relations/Functions
- Follow work assignments, and/or work schedules in completing and performing your assigned tasks.
- Cooperate with inter-department personnel, as well as other facility personnel to ensure that nursing services can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
- Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with our established policies and procedures, and as instructed by your supervisors.
- Report all complaints and grievances made by the resident.
- Notify the facility when you will be late or absent from work.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
- Attend and participate in scheduled in-service to maintain current certification as a Nursing Assistant.
- Attend and participate in annual mandated OSHA training, TB management, bloodborne pathogens standard and others as required.
Personal Nursing Care Functions
1. Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.
2. Assist residents from room to physical therapy, either by wheelchair or walking with ambulatory residents.
- Required to transfer residents prior to performing various exercises with the resident. May utilize the assistance of another aide if necessary.
- Assist residents with range of motion exercises, walking, and light aerobic activities.
- Weigh and measure residents as instructed.
- Perform the correct principles of positioning, i.e. bed positioning, sitting, use of a wheelchair, use of splints, shoulder slings, restraints, etc.
- Assist residents with the proper usage of devices, i.e., crutches, canes, walkers, etc.
- Demonstrate proper usage of adaptive dressing equipment for dressing, bathing and eating.
- Assist with the restorative dining program to include an understanding of dysphagia management and use of adaptive equipment for eating.
- Document progress of individual residents.
Safety
- Wash hands before and after performing any service for the resident.
- Follow established safety precautions in the performance of all duties.
- Keep floors dry. Report spills immediately.
- Keep excess supplies and equipment off the floor. Store in designated areas.
- Wash wheelchairs, walkers, tube feeding poles, etc., as instructed.
- Report all safety violations.
- Report any communicable or infection disease to the Director of Nursing and/or to the Infection Control Coordinator.
Residents Rights
- Ensure that you treat all residents fairly, and with kindness, dignity, and respect.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information.
- Ensure that nursing care is provided in privacy.
- Knock before entering the resident’s room.
- Report all grievances and complaints made by the resident to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
- Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.
- Honor the resident’s refusal of treatment request. Ensure that such requests are in accordance with the facility’s policies governing advance directives.
Lift up to 10 lbs: Frequently required when assisting resident in performing range of motion exercises.
Lift 11 to 25 lbs: Occasionally may occur while working with residents.
Lift 26 to 50 lbs: Occasionally to frequently required when transferring resident. Associate is required to utilized the use of a transfer belt.
Lift over 50 lbs: Occasionally occurs while transferring resident.
Carry up to 10 lbs: Frequently required when assisting resident in performing range of motion activities.
Carry 11 to 25 lbs: Occasionally may occur when working with residents.
Carry 26 to 50 lbs: Occasionally to frequently may be required when transferring resident.
Carry over 50 lbs: Occasionally occurs while transferring resident.
Reach above shoulder height: Occasionally occurs while assisting residents with range of motion activities.
Reach at shoulder height: Occasionally occurs while working with resident in rage of motion exercise or light aerobic exercises.
Reach below shoulder height: Occasionally occurs while assisting with range of motion exercises.
Push/Pull: Occasionally occurs while pushing wheelchair from residents’ room to physical therapy.
Grasping: Frequently required when documenting progress of resident.
Handling: Frequently required when assisting resident with exercises.
Minimum Qualifications (must clearly show this experience in your resume to be considered)
- Current Nursing Assistant Certification
- Maintain CPR Certification
- One Year Restorative Nurse Aide experience
- High School Graduate or GED
