Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Licensed Master Electrician to lead electrical projects across diverse settings, including commercial, industrial, and renovation sites. In this role, you will oversee electrical installations, troubleshoot complex systems, and ensure all work complies with safety standards and electrical codes. Duties
- Lead and supervise electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance on construction sites and renovation projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical schematics to plan and execute electrical work accurately.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair low voltage and high voltage electrical systems using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment such as ohmmeters.
- Program and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to automate industrial processes effectively.
- Ensure all work adheres to the National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and local safety regulations.
- Conduct inspections of electrical systems for safety, compliance, and operational efficiency; document findings thoroughly.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and clients to coordinate schedules, scope of work, and project milestones.
- Disassemble and assemble fixtures or displays as needed.
- Take inventory of equipment, tools and materials.
- Perform concrete work, patching, painting and related support tasks as needed.
- Lift more than 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in a variety of job site conditions.
- Prepare estimates, including time, materials, equipment, tools and project requirements.
- Obtain required permits, equipment, tools, and materials for electrical projects.
- Recruit, train, mentor and supervise electrical apprentices, journeymen, and skilled laborers.
- Obtain reciprocal electrical licenses in Ohio, Kentucky, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiania and Pennsylvania as needed.
- Complete projects sign off forms for the client submission, including before and after photos, progress photos, clear written descriptions, accurate spelling, and Manager on site signature.
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure job sites are clean, organized and compliant with safety expectations.
In addition to the duties above the following responsibilities may include but not limited to:
· Plan, execute, and close big-box retail construction projects (ground-up, expansions, remodels, and prototype rollouts) in alignment with scope, schedule, budget, quality/brand standards, and contract requirements.
· Lead preconstruction activities including scope and drawing reviews, constructability input, bid leveling, buyout strategy, and coordination of prototype/brand standards and long-lead items (structural steel/joists, tilt-up/precast, roofing systems, switchgear/generators, HVAC rooftop units, racking/shelving, and specialty equipment).
· Manage site/civil scope (earthwork, stormwater, paving, lighting, landscaping) and coordinate utility work (water, sanitary, gas, electric, telecom) including tie-ins, outages, and municipality/utility company requirements.
· Develop and maintain project schedules (baseline and updates) with focus on critical path activities (civil/utilities, structure/enclosure, MEP rough-in, power-on, fixtures/stocking) to achieve turnover and certificate of occupancy (CO) dates; implement recovery plans as needed.
· Plan and manage work in operating retail environments as applicable (night work, phasing, dust/noise control, customer and employee safety, shutdowns, and access constraints) while meeting store opening and turnover dates.
· Manage project budgets including job cost setup, cost coding, forecasting, change management, and monthly cost-to-complete updates.
· Administer contracts: prepare and issue subcontracts and purchase orders; verify insurance, bonds, vendor prequalification, and compliance documentation.
· Oversee submittals, RFIs, and document control using the project’s designated platform; ensure timely routing, responses, and distribution to the field and stakeholders.
· Coordinate with superintendents, owners, architects/engineers, MEP trades, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), and subcontractors to resolve issues and maintain progress.
· Plan and lead project meetings (OAC/owner-architect-contractor, weekly subcontractor coordination, and internal reviews); publish minutes and drive action-item closure.
· Manage change events and change orders from identification through pricing, negotiation, approval, and billing; maintain accurate change logs and backup documentation.
· Manage owner billings and subcontractor pay applications (including AIA pay applications where applicable); verify percent complete, lien waivers, releases, and supporting documentation.
· Drive quality management by defining expectations, coordinating inspections/testing, tracking punch lists, and ensuring timely corrective actions and rework prevention.
· Support safety compliance by coordinating required documentation, site-specific plans, incident reporting, and corrective actions with field leadership and subcontractors.
· Provide timely project reporting (cost, schedule, procurement, risk) to leadership and the owner; communicate impacts early with recommended mitigations.
· Coordinate procurement and material deliveries; track submittal approvals, fabrication, lead times, and jobsite logistics to avoid delays.
· Plan jobsite logistics for large-footprint projects including laydown/craning plans, material receiving and storage, traffic control, delivery sequencing, and coordination with adjacent tenants and public access.
· Coordinate FF&E and owner-vendor work (fixtures, shelving, point-of-sale, low-voltage, security, refrigeration/food service equipment as applicable), confirming responsibilities, lead times, delivery windows, and installation sequencing.
· Coordinate permitting and inspections (site plan, building, fire marshal, sprinkler/fire alarm, and health department as applicable) and manage utility/company tie-ins; maintain required records for AHJs and third-party inspections.
· Manage MEP coordination and commissioning activities (as applicable), including power distribution/energization, lighting controls, TAB, start-up, and training; coordinate refrigeration/food service commissioning where applicable.
· Manage stakeholder coordination with owner representatives, prototype/brand teams, store operations/opening teams, landlords/center management (if applicable), and building management, including after-hours work, shutdown requests, access/escort requirements, and customer/employee notifications.
· Drive turnover readiness by coordinating store opening checklists, life-safety signoffs, merchandising handoff dates, training/support documentation, and accelerated punch list completion to meet opening day requirements.
· Drive project closeout: as-builts, O&M manuals, warranties, training, punch list completion, landlord/center closeout packages (as applicable), final inspections, and final pay applications.
· Mentor project engineers/administrative staff and promote consistent processes, documentation standards, and customer service.
· Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement in estimating, planning, and commercial project execution.
Skills
- Extensive experience with industrial electrician tasks including automation systems involving PLCs.
- Proven commercial electrician experience with a strong understanding of construction site procedures.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for accurate installation and troubleshooting.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters, and other electrical testing equipment.
- Knowledge of low voltage systems (such as security or communication wiring) as well as high voltage power distribution.
- Familiarity with NEC standards to ensure code-compliant installations at all times.
- Ability to interpret schematics for complex electrical systems including renovation projects.
- Experience working on construction sites with a focus on safety protocols and best practices.
- Strong understanding of electrical theory combined with practical application in diverse environments.
- Valid Driver's license and ability to travel for overnight assignments as required.
- Valid Master Electrician license required.
