Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Dog Trainer to help grow our training department and deliver exceptional results for our clients.
This role focuses on training dogs enrolled in our Day School, Board & Train, and Private Lesson programs. Depending on training demand and your desired schedule, this position may be part-time training only or combined with daycare responsibilities to create a full-time position.
The ideal candidate has strong dog handling skills, excellent communication with pet parents, and experience working with a variety of breeds, temperaments, and behavior challenges.
We utilize a Balanced Training Approach and are looking for candidates who share that philosophy or are open-minded to learning it.
Primary ResponsibilitiesDog Training
- Train dogs enrolled in:
- Day School
- Board & Train Programs
- Private Lessons
- Develop and execute individualized training plans
- Teach obedience skills, manners, impulse control, and behavior modification
- Maintain accurate training notes, report cards, and progress updates
- Provide coaching and education to pet owners to support success at home
- Deliver a positive and professional training experience for clients
Client Communication
- Communicate training progress clearly and professionally
- Answer client questions regarding training programs and expectations
- Build strong relationships with pet parents through excellent customer service
- Maintain detailed records and documentation
Safety & Facility Standards
- Maintain all safety and health procedures throughout the facility
- Monitor dogs for signs of illness, stress, injury, or behavioral concerns
- Report concerns promptly to management
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional training spaces
Daycare & Boarding Support (When Applicable)
For trainers seeking full-time hours, responsibilities may also include:
- Managing daycare playgroups
- Supervising boarding dogs
- Assisting with enrichment activities
- Supporting overall kennel and daycare operations
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization standards
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 2 years professional dog training experience
- Strong understanding of canine body language and behavior
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple dogs safely and confidently
- Strong organization and time-management skills
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated
Preferred
- CPDT-KA or comparable certification
- Experience in a daycare or boarding environment
- Experience with Day School, Board & Train, or Private Lesson programs
- Balanced training experience

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for 6–8 hours per day
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and work actively throughout the day
