Full Job Description

Our Catholic Family of Parishes is seeking a detail-oriented, dependable, and organized Financial Assistant to join our Business Office. This position assists with the day-to-day financial operations of multiple Catholic parishes and schools, ensuring accurate financial records while supporting the mission of the Church through excellent stewardship.

Our work hours are Monday - Thursday 9:00 - 5:00 and Fridays 9:00 - Noon

The ideal candidate enjoys working with numbers, maintains a high level of confidentiality, is comfortable learning new software, and takes pride in accuracy and organization.

Primary Responsibilities

Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processing
Process bank deposits and maintain accurate financial records
Prepare and enter journal entries
Reconcile bank and investment accounts
Assist with payroll processing and employee records
Maintain donor and contribution records
Prepare financial reports and spreadsheets
Assist with annual budgeting and audit preparation
Process invoices, reimbursements, and check requests
File and maintain financial documentation
Communicate professionally with parish staff, vendors, and parishioners
Provide administrative support to the Finance Director as needed
Perform other finance and office duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education or experience in accounting, bookkeeping, banking, finance, business administration, or a related field preferred
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
Ability to learn accounting and church management software
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with accounting or bookkeeping software
Payroll experience
Nonprofit or church financial experience is a plus but not required
Training will be provided
