Metro Tech Electric Inc. is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Virtual Design Construction (VDC) Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electrical design, with proficiency in creating schematics and layouts for various projects. Candidates must have advanced knowledge of the required software (Revit MEP, Navisworks, Bluebeam, BIM 360 Glue, G Suite, Microsoft Teams, etc.). This position works in a team environment and must be able to effectively collaborate verbally and in writing, be reliable and possess a positive work ethic, and have strong problem-solving skills as well as interpersonal and communication skills.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a desire to work in a team-based environment and contribute immediately.
- 5 years field and/or technical experience with 3-4 years of software experience
- 5 years’ experience in Virtual Design Construction within the Electrical Field.
- Proficient in BlueBeam, Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360, Navisworks, and Microsoft Suite software
- Proficiency within the Microsoft Suite (Office 365 and One Drive included)
- Mission Critical experience is a plus!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Comprehends, navigates, and utilizes design, construction, and submittal documentation to create and maintain in-house complete installation drawings. Ability to identify, produce/document complete prefabrication drawings for the prefabrication staff. Also, the ability to capture BOM’s for prefabrication assemblies using schedules for components within Revit software.
- Tracks changes by design team or others and understands the impact/cost/timeframe it will have on project.
- Works within the established Metro Tech Electric Field, Shop and Constructability standards.
- Create modeled content of electrical components and related content to ensure accurate dimensions, orientation, and elevation with minimal guidance.
- Creates, modifies, and maintains detailed 2D and 3D installation documentation.
- Provides forecast on assigned work with oversight of Supervisor and completes work within estimated hours.
- Working knowledge on best practices and communications requirements with others to maintain Electrical systems modeled content to be clash free in a multi-discipline environment/project.
- Effectively communicates with team members and project stakeholders to keep all team members aware of all VDC Department challenges and development ideas.
- Provides detailed input into tasked assignments and project tracking.
- Maintains accountability through task management and tracking.
- Ability to coordinate with other sub-contractors, General Contractors, Vendors and Field personnel.
- Manages project file sharing process for any given assigned project.
- Adheres to BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and BIM project workflow criteria defined by Metro Tech and or BIM Execution Plans (BEP) from an external client BIM Coordinator.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
