Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to join our fast paced eyecare team. This role is vital in providing exceptional administrative support, ensuring smooth clinic operations, and delivering excellent patient service. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical administrative skills, familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Bilingual abilities and clinic experience are highly valued to enhance communication with diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

Greet patients professionally and manage front desk operations, including check-in and check-out procedures.
Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility verification, and handle billing inquiries.
Schedule patient appointments using EMR systems such as NextGen, Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft.
Collect payments and process medical collections efficiently while maintaining accurate documentation review.
Manage multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette and assist patients with inquiries.
Maintain accurate medical records, update patient information, and ensure proper documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards.
Assist with intake procedures, including data entry and medical history documentation.
Support medical coding activities such as CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding, ensuring proper documentation for billing purposes.
Coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and ensure seamless office management.
Perform clerical tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing office supplies.
Support health information management by reviewing documentation for accuracy and completeness.

Requirements

Proven experience in medical office administration or as a medical receptionist; clinic or dental office experience is preferred.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including NextGen, Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), and medical billing practices.
Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Excellent customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and the ability to handle multi-line phone systems effectively.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations regarding patient information.
Bilingual capabilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
Office experience in a healthcare setting is highly desirable; familiarity with insurance verification processes is beneficial.
