Position Summary
Azure Eye Center is seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is a skilled clinical professional who is dependable, adaptable, and passionate about providing outstanding patient care.
This individual must be able to independently perform comprehensive ophthalmic workups and support the physician in delivering efficient, high-quality care. The candidate should also be comfortable transitioning between clinical technician responsibilities and surgical support responsibilities for our office-based surgery program.
Candidates with scribing experience are encouraged to apply, although it is not required.
This position supports both Azure Eye Center locations in Alliance (Fort Worth) and Colleyville. Candidates must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel between locations as needed to support patient care and operational needs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of ophthalmic technician experience
- Ability to independently perform comprehensive ophthalmic patient workups
- Proficient in manual refractions
- Experienced with Goldmann applanation tonometry
- Scribing experience encouraged but not required
- Experience with ModMed (Modernizing Medicine EMA) is a plus
- COA or COT certification preferred but not required
- Experience assisting with cataract surgery, intravitreal injections, or other ophthalmic procedures is a plus
- Ability and willingness to transition between clinic technician and surgical technician responsibilities
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between Alliance and Colleyville locations
- Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
- Professional, dependable, compassionate, and team-oriented
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive ophthalmic patient workups
- Obtain accurate patient histories and perform diagnostic testing
- Perform manual refractions
- Obtain intraocular pressure measurements using Goldmann applanation tonometry
- Scribe for the physician as needed
- Document patient encounters accurately in ModMed EMA
- Educate and communicate with patients in a professional and compassionate manner
- Assist with patient flow while maintaining an exceptional patient experience
- Cross-train and assist as a Surgical Technician during office-based surgery procedures
- Answer and deal with calls and internal messages for patient related issues.
- Travel between Azure Eye Center locations as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient clinical environment
- Collaborate with physicians and team members to uphold Azure Eye Center’s standards of integrity, excellence, and patient-centered care
