HR Generalist – Manufacturing
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary
The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting the day-to-day human resources operations of the company. This position serves as a key point of contact for employees and managers and is responsible for recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, HR administration, benefits, payroll support, compliance, training, and maintaining accurate employee records.
The HR Generalist will work closely with management and department supervisors to support workforce needs and ensure consistent application of company policies and employment practices.
Essential ResponsibilitiesRecruitment & Hiring
- Coordinate the full recruitment and hiring process for hourly and salaried positions.
- Prepare and post job descriptions and job advertisements.
- Screen applicants and coordinate interviews with hiring managers.
- Conduct reference and employment eligibility checks as required.
- Prepare offer letters and employment documents.
- Coordinate pre-employment requirements, including background checks and drug testing when applicable.
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Manage the employee onboarding process and ensure all required forms are completed timely.
- Coordinate completion and retention of Form I-9, W-4, direct deposit, company policies, and other required documents.
- Ensure new employees receive appropriate orientation and safety training.
- Coordinate employee termination and separation procedures.
- Conduct exit interviews when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate employee status and personnel records.
Employee Relations
- Serve as a resource for employees regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and workplace concerns.
- Assist managers with employee relations issues, disciplinary actions, attendance concerns, and performance management.
- Investigate workplace complaints and employee concerns when appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information.
- Promote a professional, respectful, and productive workplace.
Payroll & Timekeeping Support
- Assist with payroll processing and review employee time records for accuracy.
- Coordinate corrections to timekeeping, attendance, and payroll information.
- Assist with employee questions regarding pay, deductions, direct deposit, and payroll-related matters.
- Maintain accurate employee information in the HR/payroll system.
Benefits Administration
- Assist with administration of health, dental, vision, retirement, HSA/FSA, HRA, and other employee benefit programs.
- Support employee enrollment and benefit changes.
- Communicate benefit information and assist employees with benefit questions.
- Coordinate with insurance brokers, benefit providers, and payroll providers as needed.
Compliance & Recordkeeping
- Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files and HR records.
- Ensure employment documentation is completed and maintained in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Assist with required employment reports, audits, and government inquiries.
- Monitor employee certifications, licenses, training, and required documentation.
- Maintain HR policies and employee handbook updates.
Workers' Compensation & Safety Support
- Assist with reporting and documenting workplace injuries and incidents.
- Coordinate with employees, supervisors, insurance carriers, and medical providers as appropriate.
- Maintain workers' compensation records and documentation.
- Support safety training and workplace safety initiatives.
- Assist management with maintaining OSHA-related documentation and compliance.
Training & Employee Development
- Coordinate new-hire orientation and required training.
- Maintain training records.
- Assist managers with employee development and performance evaluations.
- Identify opportunities for employee training and professional development.
HR Policies & Administration
- Assist in developing, implementing, and communicating HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure consistent application of company policies across departments.
- Prepare HR reports and maintain HR-related spreadsheets and databases.
- Assist with employee communications and company announcements.
- Support special HR projects as assigned by management.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of experience in human resources or a related role.
- Working knowledge of basic employment laws and HR practices.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of an organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
Preferred
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience with ADP Workforce.
- Experience with employee benefits administration.
- Knowledge of workers' compensation and OSHA requirements.
- Experience with recruiting hourly manufacturing employees.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or other HR certification.

Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based with regular interaction with employees and supervisors on the manufacturing floor.
