The Kentucky YMCA Youth Association develops engaged citizens and servant leaders inspired to affect change in their school, community, Commonwealth, nation and world. Through experiential learning, service and community activism, the Kentucky YMCA Youth Association fosters critical thinking, leadership, and social responsibility in teens. Students in our programs build communication skills and confidence while developing a network of meaningful relationships with diverse students from around the Commonwealth.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Marketing and Social Media Coordinator supports the mission of the Kentucky YMCA Youth Association by leading the organization's social media presence and assisting with the execution of its overall marketing strategy. Working collaboratively with the Program Team, Development Team, and Directors of Program Outreach under the supervision of the Senior Operations Director, this position is responsible for creating engaging, mission-driven content that tells the story of our impact and inspires students, teachers, alumni, donors, volunteers, and community partners to connect with our work.
This position serves as the primary manager of the Kentucky YMCA's social media platforms. Responsibilities include developing and executing a year-round social media and marketing strategy; creating original content across multiple platforms; writing compelling captions and stories; capturing photos and video at programs and events; designing graphics, brochures, promotional materials, and merchandise; and editing short-form and long-form video content.
The Marketing and Social Media Coordinator is responsible for maintaining a consistent organizational voice and visual brand while identifying emerging social media trends, platform updates, and best practices to maximize engagement and reach. The position regularly analyzes social media performance and marketing metrics, prepares reports on key performance indicators, and uses data to evaluate campaign effectiveness and recommend strategies for continued growth.
In addition to social media management, this position develops and maintains a comprehensive annual marketing calendar that aligns with organizational priorities, fundraising initiatives, program recruitment, leadership opportunities, and special events. The coordinator works across departments to ensure timely, strategic, and consistent messaging and images that advances the Kentucky YMCA's mission and strengthens awareness of its programs and impact.
This is a part-time position that is primarily remote, offering flexibility in day-to-day work. However, attendance at Kentucky YMCA conferences, programs, special events, volunteer activities, and other organizational functions is an essential responsibility of the position in order to capture content. The Marketing and Social Media Coordinator is expected to capture high-quality photos, videos, interviews, and other digital content on-site to authentically tell the stories of our participants and showcase the impact of our programs. Some evening and weekend work, as well as occasional travel throughout Kentucky, is required to support program coverage and organizational marketing needs.
The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with strong organizational skills, excellent written communication, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
This is a part-time, 20-hour-a-week position. There is some flexibility with the amount of hours worked in a week, particularly during busy conference seasons. During non-conference times the person filling this role is expected to be available 4 hours per day Monday-Friday sometime between 9am and 4:30pm. These must be consistent time each day.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive year-round communications and marketing strategy that supports all Kentucky YMCA programs, fundraising initiatives, leadership opportunities, special events, campaigns, and organizational priorities.
- Create and manage a strategic annual marketing and social media content calendar in collaboration with program and development staff.
- Serve as the primary administrator for the Kentucky YMCA's social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other emerging platforms.
- Create innovative, engaging, and mission-driven content that highlights the impact of Kentucky YMCA programs and connects with students, teachers, alumni, donors, volunteers, and community partners.
- Capture compelling stories through photography, videography, interviews, and written content that showcase participant experiences and organizational impact.
- Attend Kentucky YMCA conferences, programs, special events, and volunteer activities as needed to capture authentic content for social media, marketing campaigns, and organizational storytelling.
- Monitor social media trends, emerging platforms, audience preferences, and best practices to continually improve engagement, reach, and content quality.
- Analyze social media and marketing performance using platform analytics and other reporting tools; prepare regular reports on key performance indicators and recommend strategies for continuous improvement.
- Design graphics, brochures, promotional materials, digital assets, event materials, and merchandise while maintaining Kentucky YMCA and YMCA brand standards.
- Utilize graphic design software and creative tools to produce high-quality print and digital marketing materials.
- Create, edit, and produce short-form and long-form video content to promote programs, recruit participants, celebrate accomplishments, and tell the stories of Kentucky YMCA students, alumni, teachers, volunteers, and donors.
- Collaborate with staff across all departments to develop marketing campaigns and ensure consistent messaging and branding throughout the organization.
- Manage multiple marketing requests and competing priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain organized project files, marketing assets, receipts, and expense documentation.
- Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management while balancing multiple concurrent projects.
- Participate in creative brainstorming sessions with program, outreach, and development staff to identify new opportunities for storytelling, recruitment, fundraising, and community engagement.
- Travel as needed to Kentucky YMCA conference facilities, schools, and other locations throughout the Commonwealth to support marketing initiatives and capture content. Some evening and weekend work is required.
- Perform other marketing, social media, email communications, merchandising, and organizational duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Must be at least two years out of high school or twenty (20) years of age.
- Related professional experience in marketing, communications, public relations, social media management, graphic design, or a related field.
- One (1) year or more of experience managing organizational social media accounts.
- Demonstrated experience creating engaging content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms.
- Experience using Meta Business Suite (or similar social media management platforms) to schedule content, monitor engagement, review analytics, and manage organizational accounts.
- Experience analyzing social media metrics and using data to improve content performance and audience engagement.
- Strong understanding of current social media trends, digital marketing best practices, and emerging platform features.
- Experience in graphic design and creating marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, advertisements, event materials, and digital content.
- Proficiency in Canva and the ability to create materials that align with organizational and YMCA brand standards.
- Experience with photography, videography, and video editing for digital marketing and storytelling.
- Ability to tell compelling stories that communicate organizational impact and inspire engagement from multiple audiences.
- Knowledge of current merchandise, apparel, and promotional product trends and the ability to develop creative merchandise concepts for youth and alumni audiences.
- Ability to collaborate with middle and high school students to develop authentic social media content, marketing campaigns, and merchandise ideas that resonate with youth audiences.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write compelling marketing copy for diverse audiences.
- Must be able to schedule work proactively and independently while effectively collaborating with staff, volunteers, and community partners.

- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, through email, and across digital platforms.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel throughout Kentucky, including occasional evenings and weekends, to attend conferences, programs, and special events.
- Understanding of the mission and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic backgrounds and to build authentic, collaborative relationships with youth, volunteers, educators, donors, alumni, and community partners.
