About the Position:
Canature WaterGroup™ is growing! We are looking for a driven, talented, and personable individual to join our team. If you are an experience Manufacturing Engineer, you will want to consider joining our rapidly expanding business.
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations & Engineering, this position is responsible to support the assembly of water softeners and other related water treatment systems and components. This is a highly hands on position and is expected to work directly on the warehouse floor. This player / coach role connects people, processes and data. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, developing and optimizing production processes to ensure high-quality water treatment equipment products are assembled efficiently and accurately. This position is a bridge between product design and production focusing on improving machinery, workflows and assembly methods while adhering to safety and regulatory standards. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with production, quality and design teams to enhance efficiency, reduce costs and ensure high-quality product output. Some key responsibilities and accountabilities for this position are:
- Evaluate existing processes to identify areas for improvement using Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Work directly on the floor to install, test, troubleshoot and maintain production machinery and tools.
- Create and maintain technical documentation including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), Bills of Materials (BOM) and facility layouts.
- Collaborate with product development engineers to ensure products are producible and assist with prototyping and pilot builds
- Develop testing methods and validation procedures to ensure products meet design specifications and quality standards.
- Assist in ensuring that all processes and equipment meet safety and environmental regulations.
- Conducting and maintaining time studies to determine optimum levels for production and to allow optimum utilization of machinery, materials and resources
- Source new equipment and materials from suppliers
- Identify process inefficiencies and implement practical, hands-on solutions to improve throughput and quality
- Participate in root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone) and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Partner closely with production teams to implement and facilitate Kaizen events and foster a culture of continuous improvement on the shop floor
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards and internal quality requirements
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as defect rates, reduction in warranty claims and field failures, assembly defects, shipping errors and others
- Support new product launches to ensure smooth transitions to production
About you:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing or related Engineering field or a combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing quality or process improvement / engineering role
- Demonstrated success in leading continuous improvement initiatives in a production environment
- Experience with water treatment equipment such as water softeners, brine tanks and RO systems
- Strong hand-on experience with assembly and manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in Lean tools (kaizen, 5S, value stream mapping) and Six Sigma methodologies
- Demonstrated experience in process autorotation and efficiency optimization
- Ability to travel internationally: Canada, USA and Mexico (5-10%)
- Continuous improvement mindset with a bias for action
- Demonstrated experience in process optimization and trouble shooting
- Understanding of production systems and workflows
- Hands-on problem solving and mechanical aptitude
- Strong analytical and data driven decision-making skills
- Ability to lead change and influence warehouse teams
- Superior attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Superior written and verbal communication skill
- Excellent IT and technical skills
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite of products
- Proficient in the use of CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks
- Superior knowledge in the use of Excel and Google sheets
- Proficient in the use of ERP and QMS software system and the ability to learn other software
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects on an on-going basis and to effectively prioritize in a fast paced, deadline oriented and rapidly changing business environment
- Demonstrated ability to work in cross functional teams and strong skills in building and maintaining effective business relationships.

About the work environment:
- Works within a warehouse environment. Can be subject to heat / cold temperature fluctuations, noise and dust
- May spend prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer or standing and walking as determined by the day and the tasks or project at hand.
- Some international business travel may be required (overnight) – Mexico, USA, Canada
- Focus and concentration are required to mitigate risk and errors and ensure initiatives are implemented per business objectives
- Ability to push/pull/lift up to 50lbs on rare occasions
- Frequent manipulation of small items/parts required for product assembly
- Occasionally, may be required to climb a rolling staircase ladder
- Frequent bending, stooping and kneeling
- Additional hours of work may be required in order to meet deadlines and goals.
