What You'll Do
As a SolidWorks / CAD Designer, you'll work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production to create detailed designs that support new products and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
- Design parts, assemblies, weldments, fixtures, tooling, and production equipment.
- Revise and maintain engineering drawings and CAD documentation.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to improve product designs for manufacturability (DFM).
- Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and assembly documentation.
- Work with Production and Quality teams to resolve design and manufacturing issues.
- Assist with prototype development and product testing.
- Ensure drawings comply with company and industry drafting standards, including GD&T.
- Support engineering change requests (ECRs) and engineering change orders (ECOs).
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and revision history.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects to reduce manufacturing costs and improve efficiency.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of CAD design experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks is required.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical drafting principles and GD&T.
- Experience creating detailed manufacturing drawings and assembly models.
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications and manufacturing requirements.
- Experience with sheet metal, fabricated components, machined parts, and assemblies preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
