Job Description
Join our team as a welder, specializing in structural welding at the dry dock in Newport News Shipyard. This role involves fabricating and assembling metal structures and components based on engineering drawings and specifications. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 6am to 4pm, with mandatory Saturdays from 6am to 2:30pm.
Responsibilities

Perform structural welding on the dry dock at Newport News Shipyard.

Fabricate and assemble metal structures and components according to engineering drawings and specifications.

Operate forklifts to move materials and equipment as necessary.

Utilize mechanical knowledge for tasks such as rigging, general layout, and plasma cutting.

Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.

Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy.
Essential Skills-
Experience with flux core, stick, pipe, and welding construction.

Ability to perform stick and flux core structural welding.

Experience in construction and structure fabrication.

Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
Additional Skills & Qualifications-
Previous fabrication or welding experience is required.

Must be able to MIG weld effectively for the welder position.
Work Environment
The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 6am to 4pm, with a mandatory workday on Saturdays from 6am to 2:30pm. The environment requires working with various welding techniques and operating forklifts. The dress code and specific facility conditions are not detailed.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00/hr.
