Jessica Fitzwater’s reelection campaign is looking for motivated individuals who want to get involved in the 2026 election. Fellows will work with campaign staff and volunteers on canvassing, voter outreach, campaign events, and other activities to help reelect Jessica Fitzwater as Frederick County Executive.
Location: Frederick County, Maryland
Position Type: Fellowship, Part-Time
Commitment: 10-15 hours per week through Election Day, November 3, 2026
About the Role
Campaign Fellows will be part of the campaign’s grassroots field effort. Most of the work will involve talking with voters, helping at campaign events, supporting volunteers, and completing other tasks that help the campaign reach voters across Frederick County.
This is a good opportunity for someone who wants hands-on experience with a local political campaign. No previous campaign experience is required.
What You’ll Do
- Canvass neighborhoods and talk with voters about the campaign.
- Make phone calls and assist with other voter outreach.
- Help recruit and communicate with volunteers.
- Participate in canvass launches and other field activities.
- Staff campaign and community events.
- Help with early voting and Get Out the Vote activities.
- Deliver yard signs, literature, and other campaign materials.
- Help prepare materials and supplies for events and canvassing.
- Assist with campaign logistics and other tasks as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- An interest in politics, government, public policy, community organizing, or public service.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable talking with people and meeting voters where they live and work.
- Dependable and willing to follow through on assignments.
- Comfortable working outdoors and participating in canvassing.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Weekend availability is required.
- Availability for canvassing on weekday evenings is required.
- Able to travel to campaign activities throughout Frederick County. Access to a vehicle is helpful but not required.
No previous campaign experience is required, and there are no specific educational requirements. We are looking for people who are reliable, enthusiastic, and ready to get involved.

Schedule
This is an unpaid, part-time fellowship requiring approximately 10-15 hours per week through Election Day on November 3, 2026.
Weekend availability is required. Fellows should expect to participate in canvassing and campaign activities during the day on weekends. Weekday canvassing generally takes place in the evening, so availability during weekday evenings is also required.
The schedule can be coordinated around classes, work, and other commitments, but fellows should be able to make a consistent weekly commitment.
