Landscape Designer & Sales Coordinator

Position Summary
Thomas Hicks Landscaping is seeking a creative, organized, and customer-focused Landscape Designer & Sales Coordinator to join our growing team. This position is responsible for meeting with homeowners, builders, contractors, and commercial clients to develop attractive, functional landscape designs while coordinating the materials, estimates, and purchasing required to bring those projects to life.
This is not a Landscape Architect position; however, Landscape Architects are encouraged to apply. We welcome applicants with experience in landscape design, horticulture, nursery operations, landscape architecture, or related fields.
The ideal candidate combines creativity with strong organizational skills, enjoys working directly with customers, and has a passion for creating beautiful outdoor spaces.
Essential ResponsibilitiesLandscape Design
- Meet with homeowners, contractors, builders, HOAs, and commercial clients to discuss project goals, budgets, and design preferences.
- Conduct on-site consultations, gather measurements, photographs, and site information.
- Develop landscape designs that are both visually appealing and practical for Florida's climate.
- Recommend appropriate trees, palms, shrubs, perennials, irrigation, sod, mulch, rock, and landscape materials.
- Present landscape concepts and revisions to clients.
- Coordinate with installation crews to ensure designs are completed as intended.
Sales & Customer Service
- Prepare landscape estimates and proposals for residential and commercial projects.
- Assist customers with selecting plants and landscape materials from the nursery.
- Build lasting relationships with homeowners, builders, contractors, and repeat customers.
- Follow up on estimates and maintain communication throughout each project.
Purchasing & Inventory
- Assist in ordering nursery inventory to maintain a healthy, attractive, and well-stocked retail nursery.
- Order plant material and landscape products for residential, commercial, and municipal installation projects.
- Work with wholesale growers and vendors to source quality plant material.
- Monitor seasonal inventory needs and help maintain accurate inventory levels.
Office Operations
- Work closely with the Sales Office Manager on estimates, invoicing, purchasing, and inventory management.
- Coordinate plant deliveries and material availability for upcoming projects.
- Assist with maintaining organized purchasing records and inventory documentation.
- Communicate effectively between the office, nursery, vendors, and installation crews to ensure projects stay on schedule.
QualificationsRequired
- Experience in landscape design, horticulture, nursery operations, landscape sales, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of Florida plants and landscape materials.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to prepare accurate estimates and material lists.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred
- Degree or coursework in Landscape Design, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Design, or a related field.
- Landscape Architect candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Experience estimating landscape installation projects.
- Purchasing or nursery inventory management experience.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and landscape installation practices.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Physical Requirements
