Sorted Bins is a new reusable moving-bin rental service in SF & the Peninsula — we deliver clean stackable bins to customers, then pick them up when their move is done. No cardboard, no waste. We're hiring a reliable, professional owner-operator driver to run our deliveries and pickups.
The work:
- Load clean, empty bins at our South San Francisco warehouse, deliver to local customers, and pick up bins after their rental.
- Light work — bins are empty on both legs. No heavy moving, no furniture. You should be comfortable lifting ~50 lbs and being on your feet for the route day.
- Bin cleaning is part of the route day — wipe down, dry, and restage bins at the warehouse as they come back in.
- Two set days per week: Wednesday + Saturday, batched into local routes around SF & the Peninsula (down to Redwood City). More days as we grow.
- Routes start from the warehouse in the morning, typically wrapped by mid-afternoon. Expect roughly 3–5 hours per route day to start, growing as we do.
- Steady, recurring schedule. Paid training routes alongside the founder to start.
- Start: late August — exact start date confirmed at offer.
You must have:
- Your own cargo van (or similar — Transit, Sprinter, ProMaster, etc.) in good condition.
- A clean driving record and a valid license.
- Auto insurance that covers business use of your van — or the ability to add it before your first route. You'll provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) naming Sorted Bins LLC as certificate holder before your first dispatch.
- Professional, punctual, customer-facing — you're the face of Sorted Bins at the door.
- A smartphone for route/schedule coordination.
- Authorization to work as a 1099 independent contractor in the US.
Pay: $40/hr (DOE, $35–45), 1099. Pay is for hours actually worked — no day-minimum, no retainer, and no pay accrues during launch delays or service pauses. You use your own van and cover fuel, insurance, and maintenance.
Nice to have: delivery/courier/moving experience; familiarity with SF & Peninsula streets and parking.
This is a 1099 contractor role, not W-2. You set up as your own operator; we provide steady, recurring volume and a branded shirt once you're driving with us.
To apply: reply with (1) your vehicle make/model/year, (2) a sentence on relevant experience, and (3) your availability on Wednesdays and Saturdays. A resume is welcome if you have one. We'll set up a quick call.
Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply
