Full Job Description

Pacific Vision Care is seeking friendly, dependable, and patient-focused Part-Time Opticians and/or Optometric Technicians to join our eye care team in the East Bay.

Openings are currently available at:

Pacific Vision+ Optometry – Pleasanton
Pacific Vision Plus – Newark
Family Focus Optometry – San Leandro

Schedule

This is a part-time position of approximately two full days or three half days per week.

Some Saturday availability is required based on clinic and staffing needs; however, employees will not necessarily be scheduled every Saturday. Applicants should include their regular weekday and Saturday availability when applying.

Each employee will normally be assigned to one primary office. Occasionally, with advance notice and depending on availability, an employee may be asked to provide temporary coverage at one of our other East Bay locations.

About Our Practices

Our community-based optometry practices provide personalized eye care to patients of all ages and backgrounds. Our services include comprehensive eye examinations, prescription eyewear and contact lenses, myopia management, dry eye care, medical eye care, and other specialized vision services.

We are proud to serve diverse communities throughout the East Bay, including many Mandarin- and Cantonese-speaking families.

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibilities may vary depending on the candidate’s experience and assigned role and may include:

Welcoming patients and providing attentive, professional customer service
Scheduling appointments and answering phone calls
Assisting with patient check-in and check-out
Performing preliminary testing and preparing patients for the optometrist
Assisting patients with frame selection and lens recommendations
Taking optical measurements and performing eyewear adjustments
Dispensing eyeglasses and providing instructions for proper use and care
Explaining vision insurance benefits and assisting with authorizations and billing
Processing eyeglass and contact lens orders
Maintaining accurate patient records and following HIPAA and office procedures
Keeping the optical area, examination rooms, and equipment clean and organized
Supporting the doctors and other team members with daily clinic operations

Qualifications

Previous optician, optometric technician, optical sales, medical office, or customer service experience is preferred but not required
Training may be provided to a motivated candidate with the right attitude and aptitude
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Friendly, patient, dependable, and detail-oriented
Comfortable learning new office systems, equipment, and procedures
Able to multitask and work effectively in a patient-focused environment
Able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
Available for approximately two full days or three half days per week
Able to work some Saturdays based on clinic needs
Mandarin, Cantonese, or Spanish language skills are a plus, but not required
