Full Job Description

MLT / CLS / LVN – Point-of-Care Laboratory Technician

Location: San Leandro, CA
Employment Type: Permanent / Full-Time
Shift: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Pay: $26.00 – $32.00/hour

Job Summary

We are seeking a Point-of-Care Laboratory Technician to support mobile laboratory services in San Leandro, CA. The position performs waived laboratory testing, specimen processing, quality control, phlebotomy, data entry, and equipment maintenance in a mobile/remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

Perform point-of-care testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Molecular, and Coagulation as applicable.
Receive, process, identify, and log specimens while maintaining specimen integrity.
Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection.
Perform and document quality control before testing and reporting patient results.
Enter patient demographics, test orders, and results into the laboratory information system.
Review and confirm abnormal or unusual results and escalate concerns to the Laboratory Manager.
Maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine instrument maintenance.
Monitor STAT testing and ensure turnaround-time goals are met.
Maintain adequate laboratory supplies and required quality-control documentation.
Follow all laboratory, infection-control, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Must be an LVN, MLT, or CLS — Phlebotomists alone will NOT be considered.
California-required license/certification for waived laboratory testing.
Valid California driver’s license with a good driving record.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Familiarity with laboratory processes and workflow.
Previous phlebotomy and laboratory testing experience preferred.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a mobile laboratory environment.
COVID-19 vaccination required, or approved exemption documentation.

Important Location Requirement

The employee will be required to drive to 10948 Bigge St, San Leandro, CA 94577 to pick up and return the mobile lab van every shift.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods and perform bending, reaching, kneeling, and similar activities.
Ability to occasionally lift/move up to approximately 15 lbs.
Ability to work safely around blood-borne pathogens, biological materials, and other laboratory hazards.
