About the Role

Barrier Solar Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Services Supervisor to join our Energy Services department. This role is responsible for diagnosing complex electrical issues within residential and/or commercial solar PV systems, determining the appropriate corrective action, and directing a team of technicians to execute repairs safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on solar/electrical troubleshooting expertise with the leadership skills needed to guide, train, and hold a crew accountable to high standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose electrical faults, failures, and system malfunctions across solar PV systems, including panels, inverters, combiner boxes, rapid shutdown devices, monitoring systems, battery storage, and associated wiring/interconnection equipment
Determine the appropriate repair strategy and translate findings into clear, actionable instructions for the technical team
Supervise, direct, and mentor a team of four (or more) electrical technicians, assigning daily job site tasks and monitoring progress
Provide hands-on technical guidance during installs, repairs, and system troubleshooting, ensuring work is completed to code and company standards
Inspect completed work to verify quality, safety, and system performance before sign-off
Maintain accurate records of diagnostics, repairs, parts used, and labor hours
Ensure all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local AHJ requirements, OSHA regulations, utility interconnection standards, and company safety policies
Train technicians on solar-specific diagnostic tools, inverter/monitoring software, and safety procedures (including arc flash and rooftop safety)
Coordinate with project managers, sales, and permitting/inspection teams on job timelines, scheduling, and resource needs
Order parts and materials as needed and manage inventory for the team
Respond to escalated or emergency system issues, including post-installation service calls
Support system commissioning and troubleshooting during utility interconnection and inspection
Estimate costs and develop budgets for repair projects.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/trade school certification in Electrical Technology or Solar/PV Installation preferred
5+ years of experience in solar PV installation, maintenance, or repair
5+ years in a lead, foreman, or supervisory capacity preferred
Active C-10 Electrical Contractor license (or equivalent); Journeyman or Master Electrician license, or C-46 Solar Contractor experience, a plus
NABCEP certification (PV Installation Professional) a plus
Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
Proven ability to diagnose complex solar PV and battery storage systems and troubleshoot efficiently
Demonstrated leadership skills with experience directing a team
Excellent verbal communication skills — able to clearly explain technical issues and instructions to team members
Proficiency with solar diagnostic tools and monitoring platforms, multimeters, IV curve tracers, and thermal imaging
Valid California driver's license and clean driving record; ability to pass background check/drug screening

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Comfortable working on rooftops, at heights, and in outdoor conditions, including Central Valley summer heat
Ability to climb ladders, work in attics/crawlspaces, and stand/kneel for extended periods
Ability to respond to on-call or after-hours emergencies as needed

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
