About IPS Shelters
IPS Shelters designs and manufactures highly engineered modular shelters for data center, telecommunications, utility, and critical infrastructure applications. Our shelters are built in our Denton, Texas manufacturing facility using structural steel framing, insulated metal panels, roofing systems, electrical components, HVAC equipment, and other specialized systems.
We are looking for an experienced Carpenter / Insulated Metal Panel Installer to join our production team. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience installing insulated metal panels (IMPs), metal wall and roof systems, or similar commercial/industrial building envelope products.
Responsibilities
- Install insulated metal wall and roof panels on modular shelter structures.
- Measure, lay out, cut, fit, and fasten panels according to drawings and specifications.
- Install flashing, trim, closures, sealants, fasteners, and related building-envelope components.
- Complete penetrations and openings for doors, HVAC, electrical, and other equipment while maintaining proper weather sealing.
- Perform carpentry and general construction work associated with shelter assembly.
- Read and work from construction drawings, shop drawings, measurements, and production instructions.
- Use hand and power tools safely, including drills, impact drivers, saws, grinders, and fastening equipment.
- Verify panel alignment, fit, finish, and workmanship throughout installation.
- Identify damaged or improperly fitting materials and communicate issues to supervisors before installation.
- Work closely with steel, roofing, electrical, HVAC, and production teams to maintain the manufacturing schedule.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow IPS quality-control procedures and all company safety requirements.
- Assist with other production and construction activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous commercial or industrial carpentry/construction experience required.
- Experience installing insulated metal panels (IMPs) strongly preferred.
- Experience with metal wall panels, roofing panels, cold-storage panels, architectural metal panels, or similar systems is highly desirable.
- Ability to accurately measure, cut, fit, and install construction materials.
- Comfortable reading tape measures and basic construction drawings.
- Experience working with sealants, flashing, trim, and weatherproofing details.
- Proficient with common hand and power tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot field-fit and installation issues.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a production team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly lift and carry construction materials and tools.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work on your feet throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working from ladders, platforms, and lifts when required.
- Ability to safely perform physical construction work in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Experience
Experience in any of the following is especially valuable:
- Insulated metal panels (IMPs)
- Kingspan or similar panel systems
- Commercial metal roofing
- Architectural metal wall systems
- Cold-storage or refrigerated construction
- Modular or prefabricated building construction
- Metal building erection
- Industrial or data center construction
- Air and water sealing / building-envelope installation
