Position Overview:
The Museum Administrator oversees the daily operations, maintenance, public programming, and curatorial functions of the Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig and Museum. This role ensures that all activities align with the mission and goals of the Energy Education Foundation (EEF) and effectively serve visitors, educators, and stakeholders. The Administrator assists with staff across various functions, including retail and museum operations, exhibit curating, and supporting educational outreach.

Essential Position Components:
Gift Shop and Museum Operations
- Oversee daily operations including admissions, front desk, and museum team supervision.
- Greet customers on entry through the museum gift shop and handle ticket sales to the museum.
- Monitor sales performance, track metrics, and report on retail revenue.
- Ensure accurate accounting and reconciliation of all gift shop funds, including daily cash handling, credit card transactions, and end-of-day sales reports.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe gift shop and museum environment, addressing any safety concerns promptly.
- Follow all EEF processes, including but not limited to EOS system.
- Manage day-to-day museum operations, including visitor services, facilities, and safety protocols.
- Serve as the primary representative of the Ocean Star Museum to the public, fostering a positive visitor experience.
- Scheduling of docents and volunteers involved in operations, programs, special events, and training.
- Assist the Director with internal and external stakeholder communication to distribute and promote the museum’s mission effectively.
- Manage the scheduling and facilitation of museum tours.
- Assist in maintaining operational efficiency through budget tracking, maintenance scheduling, and oversight of facility needs as required.
Curatorial Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development, maintenance, and presentation of museum exhibits.
- Curate and update museum displays to ensure engaging, accurate, and educational experiences for visitors.
- Manage the acquisition, preservation, and cataloging of artifacts relevant to offshore drilling, energy history, and museum collections.
- Ensure all exhibits and collections align with the museum’s mission and reflect high-quality standards.
Requirements:
- 2-4 years of experience in museum management, retail operations, or curatorial work.
- Bachelor’s degree in Museum Studies, Business Administration, History, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with experience leading staff.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, oversee retail inventory, implement loss prevention strategies, and ensure excellence in customer-focused operations.
- Excellent communication skills to represent the museum to the public and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, and retail management software preferred.
- Experience in exhibit curation and artifact management preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
Work requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and carry items up to 35 pounds, to walk short distances, and drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials and meet candidates.
