Full Job Description

Tool & Die Maker Journeyman
Location: City of Industry, CA
Pay Range: $32– $44hr (Depending on Experience)
2nd Shift: Monday - Friday (1:30 PM – 10:00 PM)

PRIMARY SUMMARY:

Manufactures tools and dies for various production machines. Analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Troubleshoots production equipment and repairs stamping dies as required.
Plans the sequence of operations, fabricates and assembles all types and sizes of tools and dies from tool design and engineering information.
Sets up and operates a variety of machines such as the milling machine, lathe, surface grinder, jig bore in fabrication of tools and dies.
Fabricates and assembles all types of sizes of tools and dies of irregular contours (including checking fixtures and precision gauges) such as progressive dies, and compound dies.
Operates machine tools in fabrication of tools and dies as required. OD and surface of grinding tools, dies and gauges as required.
Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
Able to recognize cosmetic non-conformances based on Company specifications such as; burrs, galling, cracked edges, slug marks, dimensional changes in production parts and initiate action to prevent non-conformance such as stopping the machine and notifying Supervisor.
Follow all 5S department procedures which include but are not limited to; keeping floors clean of oil and debris, returning tools to proper locations, organizing part pans, and performing other housekeeping duties.
Attends all required job-related training (internal and external).
All employees are responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, and HSE Procedures.
All employees are responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures always.
All employees are required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.
Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.
Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

AA degree in related field or High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or a minimum of 5 years of related experience and/or training.
Read and interpret blueprints or other job specifications.
Ability to make all inspections on machined parts using precision measuring equipment.

Pay: $30.00 - $44.00 per hour
