About the Role
DACUT Cannabis is seeking an experienced, hands-on HR Manager to oversee Human Resources functions supporting our cultivation operations and corporate brand team in Flint, Michigan.
This position will serve as the primary HR partner for three cultivation facilities and our corporate brand office, providing day-to-day HR support across recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, terminations, compliance, and general HR administration.
This is not a strictly administrative HR position. We are looking for someone who is comfortable being present within the facilities, building relationships with employees and managers, addressing employee concerns, supporting leadership, and taking ownership of HR matters from beginning to end.
The ideal candidate is organized, approachable, confident handling difficult conversations, and capable of balancing employee advocacy with the operational needs of a fast-paced organization.
Essential Responsibilities
Employee Relations
Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employees and management across three cultivation facilities and the corporate brand office.

Respond to employee questions, concerns, complaints, and workplace issues in a timely and professional manner.

Conduct workplace investigations and document findings appropriately.

Coach managers and supervisors on employee relations matters and appropriate corrective action.

Facilitate difficult conversations involving performance, conduct, attendance, and workplace expectations.

Help maintain a professional, respectful, and productive workplace culture.

Identify recurring employee concerns and recommend solutions to leadership.
Recruiting & Staffing

Manage recruiting efforts for cultivation, post-harvest, facilities, warehouse, brand, creative, and administrative positions.

Partner with department leaders to understand staffing needs and hiring priorities.

Post open positions and manage candidate pipelines.
-
Screen applicants, conduct interviews, and coordinate interviews with hiring managers.

Maintain consistent communication with candidates throughout the hiring process.

Prepare and coordinate employment offers.
-
Support high-volume hiring initiatives when staffing needs increase.

Maintain recruiting reports and provide updates to leadership regarding open positions and hiring progress.
Onboarding & New Hire Administration

Manage the onboarding process for new employees from offer acceptance through their first day and initial employment period.

Ensure all required new hire paperwork and employment documentation is completed accurately.

Coordinate background screenings and other pre-employment requirements.

Ensure new employees are properly entered into company HR and workforce systems.

Partner with managers to ensure new employees receive appropriate orientation and department training.

Maintain organized and accurate employee personnel files.
Performance Management & Corrective Action

Support managers with employee performance management.

Prepare and review written warnings, corrective actions, performance documentation, and improvement plans.

Coach managers on documenting employee performance appropriately.

Track attendance, reliability, conduct, and performance concerns when necessary.

Ensure disciplinary actions are handled consistently across departments.

Partner with leadership to address employees who are not meeting company expectations.
Terminations & Offboarding

Manage voluntary and involuntary employee separations.
-
Partner with department leadership to review termination recommendations and supporting documentation.

Prepare termination documentation and conduct termination meetings when appropriate.

Coordinate employee deactivation and offboarding requirements.
-
Ensure company property, system access, badges, and other company resources are appropriately addressed during separation.

Maintain accurate termination records and documentation.

Assist with unemployment claims and employment verification requests as needed.
HR Administration & Compliance

Maintain accurate employee records and confidential HR documentation.

Ensure HR practices remain consistent with company policies and applicable employment requirements.

Assist with policy development, implementation, and employee communication.
-
Support benefits administration and employee benefit questions.
-
Assist with payroll, timekeeping, PTO, attendance, and employee record issues.

Maintain required HR reports, trackers, and documentation.

Support internal HR audits and ensure employee files remain organized and complete.

Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and company information.
Leadership & Management Support

Serve as an HR business partner to Cultivation Managers, Post-Harvest leadership, Brand leadership, and other department managers.

Provide managers with guidance regarding employee performance, attendance, workplace conduct, and company policies.

Help leadership make consistent and well-documented employment decisions.

Identify opportunities to improve employee retention, communication, and workplace processes.
-
Support organizational changes, department growth, and workforce planning.

Maintain a regular HR presence across all three cultivation facilities and the corporate brand office.
Qualifications
Required
-
4+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.

Previous experience independently managing employee relations matters.

Experience with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.

Experience handling corrective actions, terminations, and offboarding.

Strong understanding of general HR practices and employment documentation.

Ability to conduct workplace investigations professionally and objectively.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information appropriately.

Ability to work independently and make sound HR decisions.

Comfortable working directly with employees at all levels of an organization.

Ability to travel locally between Flint-area company facilities as required.

Must be at least 21 years of age.
Preferred
-
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.

Experience supporting multiple locations or facilities.
-
Experience working within cultivation, manufacturing, production, warehouse, CPG, or other high-volume operational environments.

Experience supporting both hourly production employees and corporate/professional teams.

Cannabis industry experience is preferred but not required.

Experience with HRIS, ATS, payroll, timekeeping, and onboarding systems.
