Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) / National Certified Peer Specialist to join our mental health and substance use recovery team. Notice: only Nationally Certified applicants that possess both the state level and the extra credentialing of a National Organization (taken and passed the National Certified Peer Support Specialist Exam) to work across multiple state lines. The ideal candidate will possess lived experience with recovery, demonstrating a strong commitment to supporting individuals facing mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders. This role offers an opportunity to empower clients through peer support, advocacy, and mentorship, fostering hope and resilience within diverse communities. The successful candidate will utilize their personal recovery journey and professional skills to facilitate client engagement, promote harm reduction strategies, and contribute to a recovery-oriented environment.

Duties

Provide peer support services grounded in recovery principles, sharing personal experiences to inspire hope and motivate clients toward positive change.
Assist individuals in developing personalized recovery plans, setting achievable goals aligned with their values and aspirations.
Engage clients in crisis management and intervention efforts, utilizing de-escalation techniques and motivational interviewing to promote safety and stability.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care, ensuring client confidentiality while advocating for client needs within the treatment process.
Facilitate group activities focused on behavioral health education, relapse prevention, and social skills development.
Support clients in navigating mental health services, housing resources, employment opportunities, and community integration efforts.
Maintain accurate documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to track progress and service delivery.
Promote harm reduction strategies and culturally sensitive approaches when working with diverse populations.

Qualifications

Must have a National Certification which means you have taken and passed the National Certification Peer Specialist Exam that allows you to work across multiple state lines. Notice a National Certification is different from a State level certification.
Certification as a National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) or National Certified Peer Specialist is required. Must have the National Certification that will allow you to work with clients in all states in the US.
Lived experience with mental health conditions or substance use recovery is essential; personal recovery journey must be demonstrated.
Knowledge of crisis management techniques and crisis intervention practices.
Experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders—mental health and substance use issues—is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of behavioral health principles, addiction counseling, harm reduction, and motivational interviewing techniques.
Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse communities while maintaining a respectful and inclusive approach.
Excellent client communication skills coupled with mentoring abilities to foster trust and engagement.
Familiarity with social work practices, peer support advocacy, and maintaining patient confidentiality standards.
Proficiency in using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for documentation purposes.
