Journeyman Machinist

Not every machining job is the same.

At Zephyr Wind Services, you'll work on large-scale industrial generators and critical rotating equipment that power the renewable energy industry. This isn't repetitive production work—every project presents a new challenge requiring precision, craftsmanship, and problem-solving.

We're looking for an experienced Journeyman Machinist who takes pride in producing exceptional work, enjoys solving complex machining problems, and wants to be part of a skilled team where quality matters.

Full-Time | On-Site | Hutchinson, MN

You'll machine, repair, modify, and restore components used in large industrial generators and rotating equipment. Rather than manufacturing thousands of identical parts, you'll work on unique projects requiring precision, technical skill, and creativity.

What You'll Do

Operate manual and CNC lathes and milling machines.
Machine, repair, modify, and restore generator components.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
Perform precision layouts and critical measurements.
Reverse engineer components when replacement parts are unavailable.
Inspect finished work to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality.
Maintain calibration of precision measuring equipment.
Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and shop equipment.
Help coordinate shop priorities to keep projects on schedule.
Support and mentor other machinists when needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment.
Respond to priority repair work as business needs require.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is an experienced machinist who enjoys challenging work and takes pride in producing high-quality results.

Qualifications include:

10+ years of machining experience or equivalent technical training.
Experience operating both manual and CNC lathes and mills.
Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
Experience with precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and bore gauges.
Experience with layout work and reverse engineering.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Forklift and overhead crane experience (or ability to become certified).
Leadership experience or willingness to mentor others.
Strong commitment to safety and quality.
