Job Summary

Arizona Center for Cancer Care is seeking compassionate, patient-focused Medical Assistants to join our growing team. This position performs clinical and administrative duties under the direction of a physician to support the delivery of safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care. The Medical Assistant ensures examination rooms, equipment, and supplies are properly maintained while providing exceptional service to patients, families, and the care team.

We are currently hiring for multiple full-time opportunities across the Phoenix metropolitan area, including:

Affiliated Urologist (AU) – Desert Ridge
Affiliated Urologist (AU) – Scottsdale Airpark
Northwest Urology (NWU) – Surprise (Multiple Openings)
PET/CT Imaging – Biltmore
PET/CT Imaging – Tempe
Radiation Oncology – Gilbert
Valley Urology Specialist (VUS) – Scottsdale Airpark

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Record patient medical histories, vital signs, and clinical information accurately within the electronic medical record (EMR).
Interview patients to obtain medical information and prepare them for examination.
Escort patients to examination rooms and assist with ambulation, transfers, positioning, and gowning as needed.
Prepare examination and treatment rooms, ensuring appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment are available.
Assist physicians during examinations and procedures as directed.
Monitor and process prescription refill requests and electronic prescriptions (eRx) in accordance with provider instructions.
Complete laboratory requisitions, coordinate specimen pickups, and ensure patients utilize in-network laboratory services when applicable.
Process physician orders for laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging, referrals, and medications.
Coordinate and schedule STAT diagnostic testing and specialty appointments prior to patient departure whenever possible.
Obtain prior authorizations from insurance carriers as required.
Answer clinical telephone calls, document messages accurately, and return calls promptly throughout the day.
Maintain inventory levels, restock examination rooms, monitor supply expiration dates, and assist with ordering clinical supplies.
Maintain biohazard waste and sharps disposal in accordance with OSHA regulations.
Clean clinical areas and equipment according to established infection prevention and maintenance protocols.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation while ensuring patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, leadership, and fellow team members to support continuity of care.
Utilize EMR systems and other technology to document, retrieve, and manage patient information.
Comply with all Arizona Center for Cancer Care policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Work assigned schedules and rotate between clinic locations as operational needs require.
Perform other duties as assigned by the physician or Practice Administrator.

Licensure & Certifications

Medical Assistant certification required.
Current CPR certification required.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Medical office environment.
Full-time schedule (40 hours per week).
Moderate noise levels typical of a healthcare setting.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.
Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repositioning of patients.
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate computers, medical equipment, and office equipment.
Ability to accurately read, document, and communicate clinical information.
Ability to hear, understand, and communicate effectively with patients, providers, and coworkers.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
Experience working with an electronic medical record (EMR) system preferred.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
