We are looking for an experienced Tool & Die Maker to join our team in Brookfield, IL. This is a full-time, hands-on position for a skilled professional with experience in tool & die maintenance, tooling construction, machining, troubleshooting, and precision work.
A Journeyman License is required.
If you have experience building, maintaining, repairing, setting up, and troubleshooting dies, tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
● Build, assemble, modify, maintain, and repair tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
● Work to close tolerances using precision measuring instruments.
● Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, models, and specifications.
● Plan and lay out machining and tooling work.
● Select appropriate materials, tools, and machining processes.
● Set up and operate various machine tools and related equipment.
● Use hand tools, precision measuring equipment, and shop machinery.
● Set up production tooling according to written or verbal instructions.
● Support tooling development, tryouts, and debugging.
● Troubleshoot tooling problems and make necessary corrections and adjustments.
● Perform tool and die maintenance and repairs to support production.
● Account for dimensional changes that may occur during heat treatment.
● Perform shop calculations and measurements as required.
● Help minimize production downtime by quickly identifying and correcting tooling issues.
● Maintain a safe, clean, and organized toolroom.
● Follow all company safety and quality procedures.
What We’re Looking For
Required:
● Journeyman Tool & Die Maker License
● Minimum 1 year of Tool & Die Maintenance experience
● Experience working with tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
● Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings.
● Experience using precision measuring instruments.
● Strong understanding of machine shop and toolroom practices.
● Knowledge of common metals, alloys, and their working properties.
● Understanding of punch press tooling and production practices.
● Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
● Ability to work accurately to tight tolerances.
Preferred:
● 1+ year of CNC experience
● Formal Tool & Die apprenticeship or trade school training.
● Experience with tooling development and debugging.
● Experience troubleshooting production tooling.
● Experience with heat-treated tool steels.
