Travel Physical Therapist Assistant – Critical Access Hospital | North Dakota | $1,800–$2,000/Week | 26-Week Contract

Travel Pay Package: $1,800 – $2,000 per week gross. Because so much of that package comes through tax-free stipends, your estimated take home pay is on par with someone hourly at around $54 – $64 per hour. Read that again. And North Dakota has one of the lowest state income tax rates in the country!
Local Pay Package: $42 – $47 per hour depending on experience, for candidates who live within 50 miles of the facility.
All packages are based on a 40 hour work week, paid weekly, with medical benefits available. Mileage reimbursement is provided for travel between facilities.
Sevn Workforce Solutions is hiring a Physical Therapist Assistant for a full time travel/local contract with a critical access hospital in North Dakota. This is a 26 week contract starting ASAP, and we have flexibility on the start date for the right person.
This is the kind of assignment that doesn't come along often: a genuinely laid back caseload in a small rural community that truly needs a PTA. The hospital is licensed for 40 beds and typically runs 15–20 occupied. You will not be buried. You'll have time to actually treat your patients, and there are PTs on staff supervising, so you're never left guessing or holding a department together on your own.
Position Details
- Location: North Dakota
- Setting: Critical Access Hospital, Long Term Care, plus some Outpatient
- Contract Duration: 26 weeks, starting ASAP (later start available if needed)
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 30-40 hours/week, work 4-5 days/week. No nights, no call
- Census: 40 licensed beds, typically 15–20 occupied - a manageable, unhurried caseload
- Float Requirement: 2 days per week at satellite facilities approximately 40–45 minutes away. Mileage reimbursed between facilities
- Staffing: Virtual PT for supervision and collaboration - you're supported, not stranded

Job Details
- Deliver skilled physical therapy interventions across critical access/acute, long term care, and outpatient populations under the plan of care established by the supervising physical therapist
- Carry out treatment for orthopedic, neurologic, post-surgical, deconditioning, balance/fall risk, and general mobility needs
- Collect objective data and progress measurements to support the PT's re-assessments and plan of care updates
- Communicate patient response, progress, and any changes in status to the supervising PT
- Provide patient, family, and caregiver education on home exercise programs and safe mobility
- Document treatment per facility, state practice act, and CMS requirements
- Float to satellite facilities 2 days per week (approximately 40–45 minutes away, mileage reimbursed)
- Collaborate with nursing, providers, OT/SLP, and case management
- Participate in care conferences and interdisciplinary team discussions
Qualifications
- Associate degree from a CAPTE accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Active North Dakota PTA license, or license in progress - pending licensure is completely fine as long as it's in hand before your start date. North Dakota is an active PT Compact state, so if you hold a compact-eligible PTA license in your home state, a compact privilege is often the fastest route in
- Current BLS/CPR
- Experience in acute, SNF/LTC, or outpatient preferred - this is a great fit for a well-rounded generalist
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for the satellite float days
- New grad PTAs with strong clinical rotations are encouraged to inquire
