SUMMARY
This role is responsible for the maturation and maintenance of the GNS global technology infrastructure environment (servers, databases, wired and wireless networks). There will be a continuous focus on enhancing the infrastructure to present a more secure posture to operate within. In addition, this individual will provide escalation support for the production facilities, reducing load on current on-site team members. As with other corporate support roles, this individual will be available to support on-site as needed.
ESSENTAIL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in an effective manner with customers, clients, suppliers, and employees.
- Supports Leadership Planning, Budgeting and Strategy efforts with activities including:
- Conducting network infrastructure and architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies.
- Developing and deploying plans and designs of network infrastructure systems that will meet the organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Defining monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the infrastructure is responsive to changes in demand.
- Identify and Enhance Infrastructure security and capability, including supporting operation, and planning.
- Includes execution of enhancement to provide seamless connectivity across the global organization.
- Enhancements to existing systems to meet global execution and data storage needs.
- Enhancements to ensure security and business continuity initiatives are achieved.
- Provide Information Technology (IT) support/service to team members to support necessary functions.
- Assists in troubleshooting network and infrastructure issues and developing appropriate solutions, resources, and deployment processes.
Miscellaneous (Non-Supervisory):
- Acts as a good steward of the Company’s resources and exemplifies the values of the Company.
- Ensures personal compliance with all Company policies, procedures, values, ethics, and rules.
- Maintains and promotes a safe work environment through ownership of Company safety program. This includes following and enforcing all safety rules/regulations and proper operating procedures, as well as the proper use of prescribed safety equipment pertinent to the department and immediately reporting all accidents/incidents to supervisor and Human Resources.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No direct supervision is required of this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- At least 10 years’ experience in computer and telecommunications networking required.
- Demonstrated training and experience implementing Information Technology infrastructure solutions (example, a vocational curriculum during education focused on IT certification processes, such as CCNA, CCNP).
- Familiarity with implementing infrastructure security enhancements: for example Defense in Depth(NIST), VLANs, Untrusted equipment handling etc.
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT or related field, Industrial Training (Microsoft Certifications) or equivalent education and experience desired.
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Advanced knowledge of computer operation and maintenance in a production environment. Ability to provide support to end users to resolve escalated computers, application, system, network, device, access and other IT issues either on-site or remotely.
Ability to document, track, and monitor problems using applicable systems and tools. Responds to telephone, email and on-line requests for technical support. In addition, they may coordinate with other teams or departments to resolve user problems. May perform password re-sets for users. Focuses on escalated issues for timely resolution working with other senior staff members. Examples of escalated issues would include:
- Hands-on support, diagnosis and administration of network infrastructure issues including configuration, policy management, performance monitoring, VLANs, routing and connectivity.
- Administration, management, and maintenance of Microsoft environments including 365 services, Windows Server environments.
- Deploy, manage and resolve issues with Windows based endpoints, including enforcing policies (Intune) and mobile device management (MDM)
- Support Cloud based services (Azure, PLEX)
OTHER SKILLS
Good communication skills. Ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions; Ability to accurately prepare documents, production sheets and other reports and related paperwork as required by departmental and corporate policies and procedures; Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquires or complaints. Ability to work independently and share/make decisions based on existing IT policies/ guidance (example password/ computing equipment deployment restrictions).
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Training or willingness to be trained.
- Computer Systems and Security Procedures.
- Network and Security operation and configuration (example CCNA certification).
- General Safety.
- Quality System Awareness and Procedures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that the employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The Company will meet all legal obligations related to reasonable accommodation.
This position will be based in our Grand Rapids, Michigan office with travel to support team members at all sites as needed. The other sites are manufacturing settings and may involve walking or standing for long periods of time throughout the day. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a hybrid environment (office/production) and may be exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise. When on-site at the manufacturing facilities, may require wearing personal protective or safety equipment. Noise level is frequently loud (90 dbA) in manufacturing facilities. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. May require working in non-air-conditioned variable temperature factory setting.
