Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our healthcare team. The CNA will provide essential direct patient care, support clinical staff, and promote a safe, comfortable environment for individuals across various care settings. This role is vital in ensuring high-quality patient experiences through attentive caregiving, accurate documentation, and adherence to safety protocols. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in patient care, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to enhancing the well-being of diverse patient populations.

Duties

Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using appropriate patient transfer methods and equipment like Hoyer lifts.
Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature; document findings accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality.
Provide specialized care for patients with conditions such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care techniques and behavioral health management.
Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy preparation, and aseptic techniques to ensure infection control standards.
Support clinical staff in acute care environments including ICU, emergency medicine, trauma centers (Level I & II), and surgical units by preparing equipment and assisting with patient transfers.
Engage in home & community care activities for long-term or post-acute care patients, ensuring continuity of care outside traditional settings.
Maintain accurate medical documentation and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations; utilize EMR/EHR systems effectively.
Participate in training related to CPR, basic life support (BLS), heavy lifting safety practices, and other certifications necessary for safe caregiving.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient service across geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health, hospice care, and infectious disease management.

Skills

Proven experience working with diverse populations including geriatric patients, individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring behavioral health support.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks; proficiency in medical terminology and physiology knowledge.
Strong understanding of infection control practices including aseptic technique and safe manual handling procedures.
Experience working in various healthcare environments such as hospitals (including trauma centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, outpatient clinics, or home care settings.
Ability to perform medical procedures like catheter care and phlebotomy accurately while maintaining patient safety.
Excellent communication skills for caregiver-patient interactions and interdisciplinary team collaboration.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of medical records and sensitive information.
Physical stamina for heavy lifting tasks and manual handling; ability to work efficiently in fast-paced settings such as urgent or emergency care units.
Commitment to ongoing learning about geriatrics, dementia care, pediatric nursing, and acute or sub-acute care practices.
