Position Summary

The Operations Training & Development Coordinator is a cross-functional position responsible for coordinating employee onboarding, operator training, and workforce development while serving as the primary liaison between Operations and Human Resources throughout the employee's early employment experience.

Working closely with Production Supervisors, Trainers, and Human Resources, this role helps ensure employees receive consistent onboarding, structured operator development, timely coaching, and regular follow-up as they progress through the Operator Development Program.

The position is designed to strengthen supervisor effectiveness by coordinating training activities, monitoring employee progress, identifying coaching opportunities, and improving communication between Operations and Human Resources. By assuming responsibility for many of the day-to-day coordination activities surrounding employee onboarding and development, the Operations Training & Development Coordinator creates additional capacity for supervisors and HR leadership to focus on production, employee development, and strategic initiatives.

This position is intended to serve as a developmental Operations leadership role with opportunities for future growth within the organization.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Operations Training & Employee Development

Coordinate employee progression through the Operator Development Program.
Monitor daily training progress with supervisors, trainers, and employees.
Conduct routine engagement and morale check-ins with employees participating in training.
Assist supervisors in preparing for meaningful coaching and development discussions.
Identify training obstacles and communicate opportunities for coaching and improvement.
Coordinate operator certification activities and maintain training documentation.
Track employee development milestones and progression.
Assist in identifying first-year retention risks and recommend proactive solutions.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to training, onboarding, and employee development.

2. Employee Onboarding & Integration

Coordinate and conduct New Hire Orientation.
Coordinate first-day onboarding activities.
Conduct facility tours and departmental introductions.
Introduce employees to supervisors, trainers, mentors, and key company contacts.
Ensure required onboarding documentation and first-day training activities are completed.
Serve as the primary Operations and Human Resources contact for employees during their first ninety (90) days of employment.
Conduct scheduled employee follow-up meetings throughout the onboarding period.
Assist employees in navigating company resources and directing them to the appropriate departments when needed.

3. Operations Coordination

Serve as the communication liaison between Operations and Human Resources regarding onboarding, training, and employee development.
Assist with production documentation and administrative workflow.
Coordinate training schedules and development activities with supervisors.
Assist with special projects supporting operational efficiency and workforce development.
Support implementation of new training initiatives, certification programs, and standard work documentation.
Assist with onboarding logistics and coordination between departments.

4. Administrative Support (As Needed)

Provide limited front office coverage during staffing shortages or peak workload periods.
Welcome visitors, applicants, and vendors as needed.
Assist with general administrative support functions.
Support Human Resources and Operations with miscellaneous administrative projects.

Desired Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Organizational Leadership, Manufacturing Technology, Human Resources, Communications, or a related field preferred.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Previous manufacturing operations, operator training, production leadership, continuous improvement, or employee development experience strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships with employees at all organizational levels.
Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational and follow-through abilities.
Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Professionalism, sound judgment, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and willingness to learn company software systems.

The successful Operations Training & Development Coordinator will help:

Improve new hire onboarding consistency.
Accelerate operator training and progression.
Increase first-year employee engagement and retention.
Improve communication between Operations and Human Resources.
Improve completion and accuracy of training documentation.
Increase supervisor capacity by coordinating onboarding and employee development activities.
Strengthen employee readiness for independent operation.
