Job Title: Oral Surgery Assistant

Location: Burlington, NC

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Oral Surgery Assistant to join our dynamic team. The Oral Surgery Assistant will work closely with our Oral Surgeon to assist in surgical procedures, including dental implants, extractions, bone grafts, pathology, corrective jaw surgery, and other specialized procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical skills, strong attention to detail, be a team-player, and have a compassionate demeanor.

Responsibilities:

Triage new patients and present health history in a succinct manner
Assist the Oral Surgeon during surgical procedures
Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments
Capture X-rays
Provide patient education, pre-operative and post-operative instructions
Maintain accurate patient records/ Write clinical notes
Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and OSHA regulations
Assist with other clinical tasks and administrative duties as needed
Travel between locations as needed (Raleigh/Burlington)
Assess patients’ health and their demands and aim to fulfill them as well as possible
Inform provider about any problems or discrepancies that might arise
Acquire and review patient histories identifying abnormal conditions
Monitor patients’ progress and keep records of treatments, surgeries or other medical events
Promptly respond to emergencies
Prepare patients for examinations and conduct routine procedures (measure blood pressure and temperature, start iv, etc)
Provide therapeutic treatments (dry socket management, food impaction, etc.)
Continue to cultivate an office culture of trust and compassion for the patients
Comply strictly with medical and dental care regulations and safety standards
Collaborate effectively with other providers from various healthcare specialties

Skills

Proven work experience as an oral surgery assistant
Knowledge of oral surgery guidelines and procedures regarding examination, surgery, and recovery
Familiarity with advancements in medical and dental technology and current know-how
Problem solving skills and ability to multi-task
Caring and compassionate
Team player with good communication skills

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of an accredited dental assisting program
Surgical assisting experience preferred; min 2 years preferred
Current BLS/ CPR certification
North Carolina or DANB X-ray certification
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
Ability to work efficiently; great time management use
Attention to detail and ability to multitask
