Shift: Days, 3x12hrs
Hours: 36 hrs/wk
Start Date: Sep 14, 2026
Length: 13 weeks

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Orthopedics unit position requiring prior ortho and trauma nursing experience and EPIC proficiency.

Details

Work in the Orthopedics unit of a hospital environment
Care for elective and trauma patients undergoing total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements and repairs, as well as ortho trauma cases
Specialize in pre-op and post-op orthopedic care
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, with possible stretch to 1:7
Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
Every other weekend (EOW) required
One holiday and one holiday-period evening shift required
No on-call responsibilities
Uses Safe Patient Handling equipment and orthopedic equipment including CPM, Knee Immobilizer, and Bone Foam
Utilizes Rapid Response Teams
May float to any campus within the health system as needed
EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, must be in hand at time of consideration
BLS certification required, ACLS preferred
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
Prior orthopedic and trauma nursing experience required
Travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not considered
EPIC charting system experience required
Trauma Level I or II hospital experience preferred
Teaching hospital or community hospital experience preferred
Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Must pass a Pass/Fail EKG competency exam during compliance (two attempts allowed)

Additional Information

Provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative care for orthopedic surgical and trauma patients
Utilize Rapid Response Teams as needed for patient emergencies
Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates within this radius will be considered
RTO requests must be submitted with the initial application; post-submission RTO requests are not accepted
Study materials for the EKG competency exam are not provided by the facility
