Full Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Machinist to set up, operate, and maintain computer numerical control (CNC) lathes to produce high-precision components. The ideal candidate will have experience reading blueprints, performing machine setups, editing programs, and inspecting finished parts to ensure they meet strict quality standards.

This role is critical to producing precision-machined parts for industries such as manufacturing, agriculture, aerospace, automotive, and heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC lathe machines to manufacture parts to exact specifications.
Load tools, fixtures, and raw materials into machines.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T symbols.
Edit and adjust CNC programs using controls such as FANUC Corporation, Haas Automation, or Mazak Corporation.
Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, speeds, and feeds.
Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections.
Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and indicators.
Monitor machine performance and make offsets as needed.
Troubleshoot machining and dimensional issues.
Conduct preventative maintenance and maintain clean work areas.
Document production counts and inspection results.
Follow all safety and quality procedures.

Qualifications

2+ years of CNC lathe machining experience.
Ability to independently perform machine setups and adjustments.
Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and cutting parameters.
Proficiency reading blueprints and GD&T.
Experience with precision measuring equipment.
Basic understanding of G-code and M-code programming.
High school diploma or GED required.
Technical degree or machining certificate preferred.

Multi-axis CNC lathes
Live tooling and Y-axis machining
Bar feeders and automation systems
Tight-tolerance machining (±0.0005")
Prototype and production machining
Materials such as steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and plastics

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods.
Frequent lifting of materials up to 50 pounds.
Manual dexterity and close visual attention.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise and machine movement.
