Full Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Pharmacy Technician with oncology and clinical research experience to support pharmacy operations at PanOncology Trials. The selected candidate will be responsible for chemotherapy compounding, investigational drug handling, inventory management, and coordination of pharmacy activities across clinical research sites. This role is essential to support the safe and compliant preparation and distribution of oncology treatments in a fast-paced clinical and research environment.

Responsibilities

As a Pharmacy Technician for PanOncology Trials, you are expected to:

Compound chemotherapy and sterile IV preparations under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist in compliance with USP <797> and USP <800> standards.
Safely handle hazardous drugs, manage chemotherapy spills, and ensure full adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards.
Assist in the receipt, storage, preparation, shipment, and accountability of investigational products (IP), vaccines, and medications in accordance with clinical trial protocols.
Maintain pharmacy inventory, crash carts, medication expiration tracking, and temperature monitoring systems.
Perform precise medication calculations, dosing measurements, and preparation of sterile compounds with high attention to accuracy and patient safety.
Coordinate pharmacy workflow and communications between clinical sites, hospitals, sponsors, and Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs).
Review monitoring reports, respond to queries, maintain audit readiness, and support investigational drug accountability documentation.
Organize pharmacy documentation, records, and work areas to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
Transport refrigerated medications and supplies between PanOncology sites as needed.
Ensure compliance with institutional policies, FDA regulations, GCP guidelines, and internal SOPs.
Support quality control processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the pharmacy department.
Participate in sponsor meetings, trainings, and additional operational activities as required.

Qualifications Required

Associate or technical degree in Pharmacy Technology or related field
Experience in chemotherapy compounding and sterile IV room operations
Knowledge of oncology medications, dosing ranges, hazardous drug handling, and aseptic technique
Familiarity with clinical research processes and investigational product handling

Preferred

Experience working in oncology clinical settings or clinical research sites
Experience with USP <797> and USP <800> compliant environments
Experience in investigational drug accountability and clinical trial support

Skills

Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
Strong mathematical skills for medication calculations and dosing accuracy
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish (fully bilingual preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and clinical research systems
Strong professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
Empathy and sensitivity when working in oncology and serious disease settings
