Inside Laboratory Services—the medical laboratory at this hospital—the Clinical Laboratory Scientist thrives as a confident generalist across chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, blood bank/transfusion services, point-of-care, and limited molecular testing, supported by dependable pre-analytical processes, validated instrumentation, and a tightly integrated clinical laboratory team; importantly, the setting is a 25-bed critical access facility that blends small-town compassion with top-tier medical expertise, and its primary selling points include a 5-star patient experience, specialized partnerships with elite institutions, and a robust wilderness-trained emergency care system—an ideal environment for a Medical Laboratory Technologist who values both broad hands-on practice and high standards.

The Medical Laboratory Technologist reports to the Laboratory Manager and the Medical Director (Pathologist), with daily support from lead technologists and clinical educators; responsibilities for the Medical Laboratory Scientist include specimen collection and processing when needed, analytical testing with meticulous QC/QA, instrument calibration and maintenance, method verification, proficiency testing, regulatory readiness (CLIA/COLA/CAP standards), timely critical value communication, LIS troubleshooting, and point-of-care oversight, all while collaborating closely with friendly nurses and a diverse healthcare professional team—pharmacists, respiratory therapists, imaging technologists, case managers, and more—who value a Clinical Laboratory Scientist’s expertise and foster a respectful, team-first culture.
