Mildred Elley, a Middle States Commission on Higher Education accredited college, is seeking full-time Director of Student Success and Tutoring at the Albany, NY location.

Job Summary/Purpose
The Director of Student Success and Tutoring provides strategic leadership for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of tutoring, workshops, and supports other student success initiatives across all Mildred Elley campuses. The Director is responsible for advancing student success, retention, persistence, and program completion by delivering comprehensive tutoring services, academic intervention strategies, and professional development programming. Working collaboratively with academic affairs leadership, faculty, student services, and institutional partners, the Director fosters a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement through evidence-based practices, data-informed decision-making, and student-centered support services.

Essential Job Functions

Provides leadership for Student Success and Tutoring team, ensuring the delivery of comprehensive tutoring, academic support services, and student success initiatives that align with the College's mission and strategic priorities.
Provide tutoring in 1:1 or small workshop settings
Develops, implements, and evaluates evidence-based tutoring models, instructional strategies, and academic support programs designed to improve student learning, persistence, retention, and program completion.
Designs, coordinates, and assesses workshops that promote academic achievement, critical thinking, study skills, professionalism, and other competencies that support student success.
Collaborates with Department Chairs, faculty, Academic Affairs, Student Services, and cross-functional working groups to identify barriers to student success and develop targeted interventions that improve learning outcomes.
Utilizes institutional data and student success metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of tutoring services, workshops, and academic interventions, recommending improvements based on assessment findings.
Establishes measurable student learning outcomes and program outcomes for tutoring and workshop initiatives and implements ongoing assessment processes to support continuous improvement.
Monitors student participation, academic performance, course success, retention, persistence, and completion data to assess the impact of academic support services and inform institutional decision-making.
Partners with faculty to identify instructional support needs, develop supplemental learning resources, and implement evidence-based strategies that enhance teaching and student learning.
Facilitates collaborative working groups and committees focused on student success, academic support, retention initiatives, and continuous quality improvement.
Supervises the development, scheduling, delivery, and evaluation of tutoring services and academic workshops, ensuring consistency, quality, and accessibility across all campuses.
Recruits, trains, supervises, mentors, and evaluates tutors, promoting instructional excellence, professionalism, and continuous professional development.
Prepares reports and presents assessment findings, student success data, and program outcomes to institutional leadership to support strategic planning, accreditation activities, and institutional effectiveness initiatives.
Collaborates with Institutional Effectiveness, Academic Affairs, and faculty governance committees to support assessment, program review, and accreditation processes, including compliance with MSCHE and other applicable accrediting standards.
Ensures academic support services are equitable, accessible, student-centered, and aligned with institutional policies, educational best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned in support of student learning, institutional effectiveness, and the College's mission.

Job Requirements

Master’s degree in a related field required
At least 4 years of experience working in an academic setting, preferable experience in teaching, instructional strategies, reading, special education, and/or ESL.
Proficiency in keyboarding, Microsoft Office Suite, and desktop publishing.
Comfortable tutoring reading, writing, and mathematics at the pre-algebra level.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
