Full Job Description

Position Focus:

This individual will be responsible for: implementation of the clinical research operation of the Testani laboratory; will be responsible for working independently and in collaboration with the research team towards recruitment of participants for the research protocols, obtain informed consent, responsible for creation and, maintenance of accurate data records, maintenance of regulatory compliance in several ongoing heart failure studies in both hospitalized and ambulatory patients work in conjunction with the research team to carry out study procedures and process biospecimen.

The research program and laboratory conduct clinical and translational research in the areas of cardio-renal interactions in heart failure. The program maintains a large biorepository and utilizes novel technologies/processes and state-of-the-art instrumentation to carry out high throughput processing.

Essential Duties

1. Identifies, assesses eligibility, enrolls, and collects accurate medical and demographic history on research subjects for a variety of studies; obtains and explains written consent for subject participation. 2. Contributes to protocol development, submission, and renewal by collecting written materials and writing procedural documents; ensures ongoing compliance with institutional review board (IRB) policies by monitoring changes in IRB policies related to human specimens and informing the research team of such changes. 3. Oversee data entry, query resolution, and quality control procedures. Reviews, codes and contributes in the entering of all collected patient data to assure completeness and accuracy. 4. Collaborate with PI and Research Scientist on study-specific planning including resource allocation, ensure effective delegation of tasks to optimize productivity optimization of operational workflow and tracking enrollment goals. 5. Maintains the integrity of the clinical research study by striving to advocate for patients. 6. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of related work experience in the same job family or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Must be knowledgeable in Redcap, Epic, OnCore, tele and video consenting and phlebotomy.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Strong organization skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multi-task. Proven ability to manage a broad variety of duties and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Understands the elements of clinical trial study procedures and ability to execute them. Skilled in obtaining informed consent.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with all levels of clinical team members, patients, providers.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Excellent time management skills to manage multiple ongoing projects. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficient in standard Microsoft computer programs (i.e. Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Flexibility and willingness to learn new skills/adapt to different settings i.e. study specific requirements.

Physical Requirements

May require prolonged standing, walking, use of sight, hearing and touch, moving/lifting patients of varying weights. Requires keyboard use and may require ability to sit in front of a computer screen for long periods of time.
