Full Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly meticulous and leadership-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee our daily accounting operations and financial reporting functions. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of our financial data, streamlining month-end close processes, and mentoring a small, high-performing team.

As a 100% remote position, the ideal candidate must possess strong self-management skills, a proactive communication style, and the ability to drive results in a virtual environment.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $120,000 – $130,000 per year.

Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Development

Manage, mentor, and provide professional development for 2–3 direct reports (Senior/Staff Accountants).

Conduct performance reviews, set quarterly KPIs, and oversee the daily workflow of the accounting department.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accuracy, and accountability within the remote team.

2. Financial Reporting & Compliance

Lead the Month-End, Quarter-End, and Year-End close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.

Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.

Maintain and enforce internal controls (SOX compliance where applicable) to safeguard company assets.

Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and tax filings.

3. Operational Oversight

Manage the General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions.

Collaborate with the FP&A team to provide insights into budget vs. actual variances.

Lead or assist in special projects, such as ERP implementations or process automation initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Certification: Active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license is strictly required.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

Experience: 6+ years of progressive accounting experience

Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.) and experience with mid-to-large tier ERP systems (Workday Financials a plus)

Core Competencies

Remote Proficiency: Proven ability to manage teams and complex projects using collaborative tools (Slack, Zoom, Microsoft Teams).

Analytical Rigor: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve complex accounting discrepancies.

Communication: Ability to translate financial data into actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders.

Success Metrics

Close Efficiency: Reduction in the number of days required to close the monthly books.

Audit Performance: Successful completion of annual audits with minimal adjustments.

Team Growth: Measurable improvement in the technical capabilities and output of direct reports.
