Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, perform a wide variety of skilled work in the in the purchase, installation, maintenance, construction and repair of company facilities and equipment.
Perform a variety of skilled building maintenance including repairs to doors, windows, roofs and other building parts; construct or assemble furniture and other wood and metal structures; install and maintain lock systems and electrical security systems.
Construct rebuild and repair Company equipment and facilities including wood and metal structures, equipment and furniture; prepare surfaces for painting and varnishing and apply surface coverings as required.
Perform various plumbing and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC); assist in the purchase, installation, repair and maintenance of various plumbing, heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) fixtures.
Repair electronic ignition systems for heaters, furnaces and hot water heaters as needed.
Assist in the purchase, installation, maintenance and repair of electrical work, perform trouble-shooting to repair or replace fans and motors; lighting circuits and to communication and audio-visual equipment.
Estimate cost of labor and materials for work orders; obtain competitive prices for equipment and supplies needed by the Company.
Perform skilled maintenance and repair on mechanical and electrical equipment; test and replace circuits; coordinate emergency repairs and large complex projects; troubleshoot and correct defective switches, receptacles, and other wiring; perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance.
Operate a variety of equipment and machines including saws, drill presses and various hand and power tools to perform repair and maintenance work; maintain tools and equipment in a safe, clean and proper working condition.
Maintain various records related to labor, materials and work orders.
Purchase tools, equipment and materials; operate truck to pick up and deliver equipment and supplies.
Attends staff meetings and other meetings as assigned, completes special projects in a timely manner, and maintains strict confidentiality regarding sensitive or proprietary and client information.
Provides and promotes excellence in customer service for both internal and external customers.
Acknowledges and respects cultural and linguistic differences of the Champions diverse population.

High school diploma or GED and/or equivalent qualification required.
Prioritize, schedule, assign and review work.
Train and provide work direction to assigned personnel in the performance of a wide variety of duties related to the building trades.

Must have valid California Class C Driver’s License; maintain a good safety record (verified by DMV at hire and periodically) and a reliable vehicle; proof of comprehensive auto insurance if driving personal vehicle. Must be able to drive (when needed) for business purposes to other program locations in Kings and Tulare County.
Must be drug tested prior to hire, with drug test results negative for illegal drug use, including marijuana.
Must pass background check (Live Scan Fingerprint - MANDATORY).
Must have TB clearance within 60 days prior to hire (MANDATORY).
Ability to understand and interpret information, follow instructions, and manage workflow.
Basic knowledge and skills with computer keyboarding and computer programs.
Strong Interpersonal skills: ability to work effectively with people in a constructive manner within a community-based treatment setting and establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Must have flexibility to work weekend hours during scheduled client activities.
Applicant must submit appropriate background check clearance.
Recovering individuals must have a minimum two years clean, sober, and abstinent to be considered for employment.
Must be free of probation or parole supervision for a minimum of one year.

Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Working Conditions:
Indoor and outdoor work environment; subject to noise from equipment operation, regular exposure to fumes, dust, dirt, oil/grease, and subject to driving a vehicle to conduct work.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized equipment and tools, seeing to observe needed and completed repairs, reaching overhead and horizontally, standing for extended periods of time, walking over rough or uneven surfaces, lifting heavy objects, bending at the waist, and kneeling or crouching.

HAZARDS: Vapors from paints and solvents, working in a cramped or restrictive work chamber, working with power saws and flying debris, and working with electrical power supply.
Must have the visual, physical and technical ability to independently operate a variety of office equipment including the use of a computer. Will also require bending, stooping, filing, lifting of at least 50 lbs. or more and able to interrupt physical altercations. Ability to verbally communicate well with others.
