Summary of Position

Review and approve the educational content of the curriculum, and the quality of instruction and supervision delivered by the faculty. Review each student’s performance to assure adequate progress toward program completion. Attest that each graduating student performs at the program’s exit level competency.

Education and Experience

MD or DO from a regionally or nationally accredited institution is required.
ACLS Certified Instructor required.
A minimum of two years experience in an Emergency Department which deals with Pre-hospital care required.

Knowledge Skills and Ability

Knowledge of Paramedic/EMT DOT curriculum Skills necessary for certification in Texas and NREMT.
Knowledge of state and national regulatory agency requirements.
Guide and evaluate students in the classroom and clinical area.
Ability to communicate with students, agency personnel, and college personnel.
Flexible, dependable-able to work with EMT and Paramedic students.
Knowledgeable about EMT-paramedic educational programs.
Knowledgeable about issues related to educational programs for Prehospital EMS providers.

Essential Functions

Knowledge of the Texas Department of Health (TDH) and NREMT regulations for implementation of curriculum.
Evaluate student performance on theory base of curriculum.
Function as Medical Director for all TDH course approvals and for NREMT testing.
Maintain a safe and effective learning environment and protect the privacy of students and the confidentiality of training records as required.
