About the Position
CREATECH Education is seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and committed part-time English and Reading Tutor to work with students in grades K–12 at our Brownsville learning center.
Tutors provide personalized instruction based on each student’s academic needs and goals. Areas of support may include phonics, reading fluency, reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, writing, and general English Language Arts skills.

Applicants should be currently pursuing or hold a degree in Education, English, Reading, Language Arts, or a related field, OR have prior K–12 tutoring or teaching experience. This is an instructional position and requires strong English grammar, reading, and writing skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized or small-group English, reading, writing, and literacy instruction.
- Review student needs and prepare appropriate activities for each session.
- Select, adapt, or create practice materials using available instructional resources.
- Adjust teaching methods based on each student’s age, learning needs, and progress.
- Help students build academic skills, confidence, and motivation.
- Complete accurate session notes after each lesson.
- Communicate student progress, needs, and concerns with center management.
- Arrive prepared, punctual, and ready to teach.
- Maintain consistent attendance and follow the agreed weekly schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Strong English reading, grammar, and writing skills.
- Currently pursuing or holding an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Reading, Language Arts, or a closely related field, or at least one year of relevant tutoring or classroom experience.
- Ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently.
- Dependable transportation and consistent weekday availability.
- Ability to prepare or select appropriate instructional activities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional, dependable, and comfortable working with children and teenagers.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Ability to commit to a consistent weekly schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or holding a degree in Education, English, Reading, or a related field.
- Previous tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or classroom experience.
- Experience working with elementary, middle school, or high school students.
- Knowledge of phonics, literacy development, or writing instruction.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
Schedule
This is an in-person, part-time position.
Most sessions take place during weekday afternoons and early evenings, with possible Saturday hours. Expected hours are approximately 6–15 hours per week, depending on student enrollment and availability.
Applicants must be able to maintain an agreed-upon weekly schedule.
Pay
$13–$16 per hour, depending on education, relevant experience, availability, and ability to independently plan individualized instruction.
