About the Role:

The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive patient care across various healthcare settings. This position involves assessing patient health problems and needs, developing and implementing nursing care plans, and maintaining medical records. The RN collaborates closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. A key focus of this role is to provide direct patient care, including wound management and telemetry monitoring, while also educating patients and their families about health conditions and treatments. Ultimately, the RN serves as a patient advocate, ensuring that each individual receives compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to their unique needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Valid and current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the practicing state or region.
Completion of an accredited nursing program (Associate's Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Demonstrated experience in direct patient care, including wound care and telemetry monitoring.
Strong knowledge of medical and surgical nursing principles and patient advocacy.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
Experience working with patients and knowledge of nursing practices.
Certification in specialty areas such as telemetry or wound care.
Previous experience collaborating with nurse practitioners in a clinical setting.
Advanced certifications such as Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) or Pediatric Nursing Certification.

Responsibilities:

Provide direct patient care by monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and performing wound care procedures.
Educate patients and their families on disease management, post-treatment care, and health maintenance strategies.
Conduct telemetry monitoring to observe cardiac rhythms and promptly report abnormalities to the healthcare team.
Advocate for patients’ rights and needs, ensuring their concerns are addressed and their care preferences respected.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nurse practitioners and physicians to develop and update individualized care plans.
Document all nursing care activities accurately and maintain comprehensive patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Support pediatric nursing care by addressing the specific needs of children and their families in clinical settings.
Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with best practices in medical and surgical nursing.

Skills:

The required skills are integral to daily nursing practice, enabling the RN to provide high-quality direct patient care and effectively manage complex clinical situations. Patient education skills are used to empower patients and families with knowledge that supports recovery and health maintenance. Proficiency in wound care and telemetry allows the nurse to monitor and treat patients with acute and chronic conditions accurately.
