Full Job Description

AIDT at the Robotics Technology Park (RTP) in Tanner, AL is seeking a full-time Industrial, Electrical, and Maintenance Instructor.

$63,407 – $91,070

SYNOPSIS

The Industrial Electrical and Maintenance Instructor is responsible for developing and delivering high-quality, hands-on training in industrial electrical systems, electrical fundamentals, motor controls, industrial controls, maintenance practices, preventive and predictive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and advanced manufacturing technologies. This position supports the mission of the Alabama Robotics Technology (RTP) and EV Technology Center by preparing a highly skilled workforce and providing industry-driven training that meets the evolving workforce development needs of Alabama’s manufacturing industry.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and deliver training programs focused on advanced manufacturing technologies, including electrical fundamentals, industrial electrical systems, motor controls, industrial controls, maintenance practices, preventive and predictive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, precision measurement, manufacturing processes, safety protocols, and other related technical skills.
Conduct classroom training sessions and in lab practical instruction using specific software and hardware tools.
Create curriculum, manuals, presentations, and other training materials in collaboration with technical and subject matter experts.
Coordinate classes with outside vendors on specialized equipment or parts when required.
Evaluate student performance and maintain student records of attendance and grades, both electronic and hard copies, as required; collect, evaluate and record daily student journals; professionally inform students of their progress throughout the courses (s).
Assist in developing and administering class schedules.
Assist in developing any forms/templates/documentation required.
Perform all duties with a positive attitude; always communicating professionally to reflect a positive AIDT image.
Perform all other duties as required by AIDT.

Special Projects:

Accept and manage the development and implementation of special projects and other work-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Competency in basic electricity, electrical systems, electrical troubleshooting, circuit components, electronics, and reading electrical schematics, manufacturing processes, quality control, and assembly line procedure, workplace safety regulations and standards. Strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes.
Excellent computer skills, including, but not limited to: MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Windows OS & file system, Internet Explorer, and email.
Excellent instructional skills; ability to effectively present technical information to groups in a classroom or lab environment.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to create complex class schedules, based on availability of multiple resources such as rooms, instructors, & equipment to meet program needs.
Able to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet competing deadlines as demands evolve.
Ability to safely operate office equipment: computers, printers, scanners, copiers, and other job-related specific equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to interact professionally with company representatives, public officials, trainees, coworkers, and the general public.
Ability to follow established laws, policies, and procedures.
Ability to comprehend technical literature and processes; knowledge of technical trends pertaining to new technologies; knowledge of industrial and retraining procedures.
Ability to comply with all pertinent safety, environmental, and other local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Ability to learn and train new emerging technologies.
Ability to function in an automated work environment.
Ability to work flexible hours based on program needs.
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum three years’ experience in industrial maintenance, industrial manufacturing/technical training, engineering, or related area of specialization (automotive manufacturing is a plus); or two-year degree in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, or related area of specialization; or an engineering or industrial related baccalaureate degree from a duly accredited institution.
A current Alabama Driver’s License is required.

Preferred Minimum Qualifications or Ability to Obtain:

Prior experience in training, teaching, or mentoring in a manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies (e.g., robotics, automation, and smart manufacturing).

Salary and General:

Initial placement will be based on experience and education applicable to the T3M salary schedule, within a range of $63,407 – $91,070. Paid monthly. Excellent benefits package included.

Criminal Background Check:

The applicant chosen for employment will be required to sign a Criminal Background Check consent form and to submit a nonrefundable $29.67 payment for the cost of the criminal background check. (Note: $29.67 fee is based on possession of an Alabama Driver’s License. The fee for the background check may be more or less if the driver’s license is not an Alabama license.) Permanent employment will be contingent upon the results of the criminal background check.
