We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Controller to oversee accounting operations across multiple business entities. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who is comfortable managing complex financial processes independently in a highly confidential and deadline-driven environment.
The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting knowledge, sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal day-to-day oversight. Prior experience in a law firm or other professional services environment is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Manage trust accounting and IOLTA compliance
- Coordinate settlement disbursements and related financial processes
- Perform account reconciliations and financial reporting
- Assist with budgeting and financial tracking
- Coordinate with outside CPA and other financial vendors as needed
- Manage QuickBooks Online and related accounting platforms
- Oversee expense management systems, including Expensify
- Support accounting staff
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records
- Assist with implementation and maintenance of accounting procedures and internal processes
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience preferred
- Prior experience managing accounting operations independently strongly preferred
- Experience with payroll, reconciliations, AP/AR, and financial reporting required
- Experience with trust accounting and IOLTA management strongly preferred
- Experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred
- Experience with QuickBooks Online, ADP, and Expensify or similar platforms preferred
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive financial information
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Skilled in professional communication, problem solving, and follow-through
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel
