Position Summary
Critical Response Strategies (CRS) is building a bench of qualified healthcare workers to support short-term hurricane and natural-disaster response deployments. Healthcare Workers may be assigned to support field medical operations, shelter or community healthcare support, patient intake, basic care coordination, wellness checks, documentation, supply support, and other mission-driven healthcare tasks based on operational need, credentials, and scope of practice.
This role is intended for individuals who are passionate about serving in disaster-response environments and who understand that deployment work may require living and working in austere, rapidly changing conditions. Candidates must be comfortable supporting hurricane-impacted areas where power, running water, communications, transportation, housing, and other basic infrastructure may be limited or unavailable. Deployments may occur with as little as 24 to 48 hours' notice from offer, and contract duration will be based on mission requirements.
Professional licenses, certifications, and credentials must be current, in good standing, and verified by CRS before a candidate may be considered eligible for placement on the healthcare deployment bench or assigned to any role requiring a license or certification.

Key Responsibilities
Healthcare Support & Field Operations
• Provide healthcare-related support in hurricane or natural-disaster response environments, with assigned duties based on verified license, certification, training, experience, and operational need.
• Support patient intake, basic screening, wellness checks, vital-sign collection, care coordination, patient flow, and documentation as permitted by assignment requirements and scope of practice.
• Assist licensed clinical leads, medical providers, emergency-response teams, shelter operations, field clinics, or community-support teams with assigned healthcare and recovery-support tasks.
• Follow applicable clinical protocols, standing orders, site procedures, infection-control standards, privacy requirements, safety policies, and chain-of-command expectations.
Deployment Readiness & Mission Support
• Maintain readiness to deploy on short notice, potentially within 24 to 48 hours of offer, based on hurricane response needs and contract requirements.
• Remain flexible regarding deployment location, living arrangements, transportation constraints, assignment length, shift schedule, and changing field priorities.
• Operate professionally in austere environments where basic utilities, communications, climate control, lodging, supplies, or routine services may be limited or unavailable.
• Work collaboratively with CRS leadership, healthcare personnel, emergency-management partners, support teams, and community stakeholders to maintain disciplined mission execution.
Documentation, Compliance & Safety
• Complete accurate, timely, and legible documentation for assigned activities, which may include patient encounters, wellness checks, supply usage, incident notes, shift reports, logs, or other required records.
• Protect confidential, medical, and personally identifiable information in accordance with CRS policies, site requirements, and applicable privacy expectations.
• Use required personal protective equipment and follow all site-safety, infection-control, heat-safety, environmental, and emergency-response procedures.
• Immediately report safety concerns, credentialing issues, patient-care concerns, supply shortages, workplace injuries, or other mission-impacting issues through the appropriate chain of command.
Required Qualifications
• Current healthcare license, certification, registration, credential, or relevant healthcare support experience appropriate to the assigned role. Examples may include RN, LPN/LVN, EMT, Paramedic, CNA, Medical Assistant, public health worker, behavioral health support, pharmacy technician, laboratory support, or other healthcare-related credentials depending on contract need.
• Any professional license, certification, or credential claimed by the candidate must be active, current, in good standing, and verifiable before the candidate may be considered part of the CRS healthcare deployment bench or assigned to licensed work.
• Current BLS, CPR, First Aid, ACLS, PALS, NIMS/ICS, FEMA, emergency management, infection-control, or other response-related training relevant to the assigned healthcare function.
• Ability and willingness to deploy rapidly, potentially within 24 to 48 hours of offer, for a short-term contract period based on hurricane response and operational needs.
• Genuine interest in disaster response and willingness to live and work in austere, hurricane-impacted, or infrastructure-limited environments.
• Ability to work within assigned scope of practice, follow clinical direction and site protocols, and escalate issues appropriately when a task falls outside licensure, training, or authorization.
• Ability to work extended shifts, weekends, holidays, overnight schedules, or variable schedules as required by the response mission.
• Ability to perform essential duties safely, with or without reasonable accommodation, including standing or walking for extended periods, moving through debris-impacted areas, working in heat and humidity, and wearing required personal protective equipment.
• Professional communication skills, sound judgment, reliability, emotional resilience, and the ability to work respectfully with diverse populations during high-stress recovery operations.
• Employment and bench eligibility may be contingent upon successful completion of background screening, identity and work-authorization verification, drug testing, credential verification, health or immunization requirements, and other contract-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous hurricane response, natural-disaster deployment, emergency medical services, shelter medical support, field clinic, public health, humanitarian response, military, government, or austere-environment experience.
• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
• Experience supporting vulnerable populations, evacuees, displaced individuals, community health operations, mobile medical support, triage support, or high-volume intake environments.
• Prior experience working in tropical, remote, infrastructure-limited, or rapidly changing operational environments.
Work Environment
• This is a deployment-based healthcare support role for hurricane and natural-disaster response operations. Deployment location, duration, shift schedule, living conditions, and work assignment are driven by contract and operational needs.
• Deployments may occur with as little as 24 to 48 hours' notice from offer. Candidates placed on the bench are not guaranteed deployment, and deployment eligibility remains subject to contract requirements, credential verification, readiness, availability, and operational need.
• Work may be performed in field clinics, shelters, temporary medical areas, staging sites, community-support locations, damaged facilities, tents, mobile units, or other response environments.
• Austere conditions may include little to no electrical power, limited or no running water, limited sanitation, limited climate control, limited communications, shared lodging, limited supplies, long travel times, and restricted access to routine services.
• Field conditions may include high heat and humidity, tropical weather, heavy rain, flooding, mud, debris, mold, insects, dangerous wildlife, uneven or unstable ground, damaged buildings, unstable structures, and other natural-disaster hazards.
• Employees are expected to follow all CRS, client, site, safety, healthcare, infection-control, travel, security, and conduct requirements throughout deployment and demobilization.
