Job Overview
As a Solar Installer, you will work as part of a field crew to safely and efficiently install solar energy systems for agricultural, commercial, and other project sites. This is a hands-on, physically demanding position suited for individuals with mechanical aptitude and experience in construction, farming, electrical work, maintenance, roofing, or solar installation. Travel and overnight assignments are an expected part of the role.

Work Environment & Schedule
This is an in-person, field-based position. Work schedules, project locations, travel requirements, and hours may vary based on customer and project needs. Overtime and extended workdays may be required when permitted by law and business conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, install, and maintain solar photovoltaic systems on agricultural buildings, barns, ground mounts, and other structures.
- Read and interpret plans, schematics, drawings, and installation manuals to complete work accurately.
- Perform site preparation, racking assembly, module placement, equipment installation, and related construction activities.
- Perform wiring and electrical-support work under the direction of qualified or licensed personnel when required.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, forklifts, and other equipment when trained and authorized.
- Complete required jobsite, vehicle, equipment, and safety inspections accurately and on time.
- Follow OSHA, NEC, project-specific, and Ag Energy safety requirements at all times.
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional jobsites, vehicles, tools, and Company-provided lodging.
- Work effectively with crew members, foremen, project leadership, customers, farmers, agribusiness owners, and community partners.
- Accurately record work time, travel time, project information, and required documentation.

Required Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience in farming/farm work, construction, roofing, electrical, maintenance, solar, or a related trade preferred.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform repetitive physical work throughout the workday.
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat and cold.
- Comfort working at heights, including ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and rooftops.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the designated reporting location.
- Ability to travel and stay overnight for project assignments as business needs require.
- Strong teamwork, communication, reliability, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow written procedures, safety requirements, supervisor direction, and project specifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous solar installation experience.
- NABCEP certification or relevant solar training.
- Electrical apprenticeship or electrical construction experience.
- Knowledge of agricultural structures, including barns, pole barns, and related facilities.
- Forklift, aerial lift, skid steer, or other heavy-equipment experience and certifications.
- Two or more years of relevant field experience for advanced-level consideration.
Travel & Project Assignments
- Field crews may travel to projects outside the local area and may be assigned overnight travel.
- Approved travel time is compensated in accordance with Company policy and applicable law.
- Ag Energy provides Company-approved lodging for authorized overnight assignments.
- Employees are expected to comply with Company travel, lodging, vehicle, timekeeping, and conduct policies while on assignment.
Compensation
Starting base rate: $25.00 per hour. Employees assigned to qualifying prevailing wage projects will be paid the applicable prevailing wage rate for covered work, as required by the governing wage determination, law, or contract. Pay may vary by project, classification, and location.
